Jewish Renaissance Foundation Family Assistance Center.

Many services are available in Middlesex County from the non-profit Jewish Renaissance Foundation. The agency can sometimes provide financial help from the Family Assistance Center, but a main focus is on offering long term stability and guidance from the Academy of Workforce Empowerment and other employment services. The non-profit serves as the community action agency for the county.

Free stuff from Jewish Renaissance Foundation community action

Vouchers for groceries and food assistance cards are passed out when available, and they are redeemable at ShopRite stores. To get this support, households must meet income qualifications and the exact benefit amounts issued to residents are based on family size. This can both feed a family and help them get to work to increase their income. there are also referrals to free food pantries in Middlesex County NJ.

Last but not least, JRF’s Clothing Assistance Program provides limited emergency funds or gift certificates. The assistance needs to be used only for the purchase of school clothes for children in need, or to replace clothing lost in fires or other disasters.

Financial assistance

JRF also operates several housing assistance related programs to assist eligible Middlesex County residents who are having difficulty making mortgage, rent or utility payments. Many of these rely on government aid. More information is below.

Once per year rental assistance may be able to provide financial assistance to those in need or facing eviction. To be eligible for this, applicants must show a copy of their lease agreement and meet other conditions. The program requires a notarized letter from the landlord, stating monthly rental amount, the duration of tenancy, and how much back rent is due.

 

 

 

 

Other conditions from JRF include residents who are currently in court with their landlord over tenant issues must meet additional requirements. Those participating in the federal Section 8 Program or state-provided temporary rental assistance do not qualify for this type of assistance.

Referrals are given by the JRF community action agency specialists. They can direct people to government assistance, SNAP food stamps, TANF cash aid, and more .Both information and help in applying is offered. This is another form of financial help, and find examples of government assistance.

In some cases, there may be mortgage assistance to qualifying homeowners in Middlesex County. Applicants must show a copy of their bank and mortgage statements. Applicants who are unable to pay the difference between the amount owed and the amount JRF can provide, and/or are unable to make mortgage payments going forward are not eligible for this type of help.

Another component of the housing from Jewish Renaissance Foundation Family Assistance Center is one time energy bill help. There may be grants for assisting with utility bill payments, and the support is available to qualifying households from May through October of each year. Staff can also provide referrals to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for LIHEAP or other support.

Employment and income assistance from JRF in Middlesex County

The AWE - Academy of Workforce Empowerment is a one-stop job training hub where low-income Middlesex County residents are given the opportunity to learn skills necessary for success in getting and also keeping jobs. A number of programs are offered from it. One is information on free job placement and training in New Jersey.

AWE training provides all of the educational, technical, and financial information and skill-building needed for participants to work toward greater economic solvency. Training and support is also available for those who have entrepreneurial ambition. Classes and workshops hosted at the centers are open to anyone, although the Greater Budapest Neighborhood is the main target area.

JRF’s workshops for Middlesex County’s under-employed or unemployed citizens are structured as Boot Camps that emphasize a wide variety of job-related topics. Teachers and counselors will cover interviewing, job searches, resume writing, and tips on utilizing social media. Participants who have attended workshops are eligible to earn free job coaching sessions. Workshops and support services are open to anyone who wishes to attend from the community.

Income inequality is highly prevalent in Middlesex County. Jewish Renaissance Foundation and its staff recognize the issue and work to address is. The non-profit is dedicated to assisting residents in the service area in their efforts to become self-sufficient by providing them with adequate funding for educational purposes.

Family Success Centers, or FSC, provide a wide array of social services to help enrich the lives of parents and children by strengthening neighborhoods. All Middlesex County residents are welcome to visit the JRG FSC for confidential support, free information, and services.

 

 

 

 

The FSC from Jewish Renaissance Foundation promotes parent leadership and family well-being. Other assistance will link families to non-profit community services as well as empower and support working poor families. There may be workshops on Resume Building, Financial Literacy Classes, Links to Health Care, and Assistance with completing NJ Family Care and SSI/SSD Applications.
