The Southeast Texas Food Bank provides resources and services to people in need of help. They provide free groceries and food and household supplies to over 140 non-profit charity organizations and agencies in the area. Beaumont Salvation Army Corps (phone number 409-896-2361) offers several resources and programs. Some of those services available to qualified individuals include Social Services which provide help with paying for rent, utilities, transportation expenses, and prescription medications. They offer transitional shelter for individuals and families. Another innovate offering is the Red Shield Emergency Shelter, which is a housing program. Last, but not least, receive free food and groceries from the food pantry and Soup Kitchen and even access emergency disaster assistance.
The Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission, which is the local community action agency, provides several resources and services to low income people in Jefferson County. Some Other Place provides limited financial assistance to those faced with emergencies with no available resources or government programs to turn to. Services offered by the agency are: free food; clothing; limited financial assistance with paying for rent and housing, utilities, medical, prescriptions, or other emergencies.
