Hendricks County and Eagle Creek Salvation Army assistance programs.

Salvation Army assistance programs listed below are based on (1) inventory levels, (2) volunteer levels as well as (3) funding. When resources exist in Hendricks County from the Eagle Creek Salvation Army, there may be items including baby formula, free non-perishable food donations, energy bill or rent help, shelters, free school supplies or Christmas gift and diapers. All of this, and more, may be offered at Family Services locations by the Salvation Army.

All of that both material and financial support is combined with case management services. This is what the Salvation Army gives to qualified low-income families in need. This last part of the process (case management) is what is used to help break the cycle of poverty, hunger, underemployment, and reliance on public assistance as well. All assistance is by appointment only.

Documents Needed for Salvation Army Services

As noted, there is an appointment process in place. To qualify for some form of aid, bring the following items. The Salvation Army will need birth certificate, DWSS card, as well as school record. They will also need a State ID or valid driver's license for all adults in household; Identification for each child in the home in Hendricks County Indiana; income information on all household members; proof of residency including lease, utility bill (water, phone, gas, or electric); and lastly a social Security card for each member of the household if they have one.

A list of the assistance programs are below. This can change throughout the year based on factors above, such as funding
-A free Food Pantry as well as soup kitchen for hot meals.
-Clothing bank with Personal Hygiene Supplies, Soap, detergent, baby Items, diapers, and more.
-Utility bill as well as rent assistance provided in collaboration with 211 service and partner agencies.
-Free seasonal programs from the Hendricks County Salvation Army including Coats for Kids, Back to School Backpacks, Christmas toys, gifts, and angels.
-Veteran programs and resources for senior citizens as well as the disabled.

 

 

 

Homeless residents of Hendricks County can use the shelter and/or the day resource center. Not only that, but other members of the community can also drop it. It can be a reprieve from the weather, including to get out of the heat or cold. There is also a computer to use, water or meals served, or basic needs including blankets. Hendricks County Salvation Army case management includes many different things. One is a vocational program. Another is budgeting, saving, life skills and living within means. It address everything from locating low income housing to obtaining work skills in the high tech job market. The goal is to help people obtain productive lives.

The Family Store – This is a thrift location that is available in Hendricks County. The center is run by the Salvation Army. It sells items to the general public, with some free supplies given out from time to time to those in a crisis or disaster. The Family Store relies on both donations as well as people donating; when you give to the Salvation Army you give to those in need. Or find other resources for saving money on shopping.

Adult and Drug Rehabilitation Centers are a core Salvation Army Hendricks County service. They assist people with substance abuse (drugs, alcohol, etc.) as well as other addictions. The programs can help people improve their self-worth and regain society. It provides counseling, spiritual direction, and other support.

 

 

 

 

Disaster relief as well as recovery allows the Salvation Army in Hendricks County to respond, often before anyone else. They provide basic needs (food, shelter, meals, clothes, etc.) as well as much more. While each event is different, the staff try to assess the needs of the community and respond as needed.
