Catholic Charities in southwestern Ohio and Hamilton County.

Families and residents in Southwestern Ohio, including Cincinnati and Hamilton County, can turn to Catholic Charities for assistance. A number of resources and programs are offered, including social services, employment, housing, immigration, and more. The Catholic Charities centers of Hamilton County will help qualified people of all religions, backgrounds, and cultures.

The social services offered are wide ranging and extensive. Referrals, information on medical care, government aid, and much more is provided.

  • For example, case managers will assist individuals and families in finding a health care provider for themselves and their families.
  • Get referrals to community resources and public assistance such as WIC, Medicaid, food stamps, Medicare, etc. Many state of Ohio and federal government assistance programs can help low income, unemployed, and struggling families.
  • Centers provide workshops regarding Title VI, their rights to services and benefits, and social workers can assist individuals filing for financial assistance for their bills such as hospital expenses.

Employment programs are provided by Catholic Charities. This includes providing monthly or bimonthly job fairs, training to job seekers on how to write their resume, how to perform well in interviews, expectations they will have at any job, etc. They also work with businesses and employers in Cincinnati, and can provide consulting services to employers who have work related concerns with their Hispanic employees. However a key service is assisting individuals with finding employment across Hamilton County and other areas of Ohio, and they have relationships with both employers and job candidates.

Housing and rental programs – Catholic Charities of southwestern Ohio provides quarterly workshops regarding housing issues, such as eviction prevention, discrimination, policies when buying or renting an apartment or house, etc. The agency will bring speakers from Real State agencies and HOME to provide workshops and to answer the most frequent questions.




Immigration and Legal services are coordinated in the community, including Montgomery and Hamilton County. This is mostly offered for Hispanics. The programs will provide forums or workshops where volunteer Spanish speaking lawyers and attorneys answer questions from the community. They provide workshops on issues such as "Taxes" and will also try to educate the Hispanic community on their legal rights. The bottom line is the agency will assist individuals with addressing and solving legal issues, and this is done by volunteer lawyers.

Health care and education programs – Catholic Charities of Hamilton provides workshops in health topics that have been identified as an issue in the community. This includes childhood obesity, asthma, TB, domestic violence, depression, alcoholism, teen pregnancy, low weight births, etc. Work with a specialist in order to develop health programs to address main health issues. Services are offered in Spanish as well.

Literacy Education Programs can help people gain skills, improve their knowledge, and gain other experiences that are critical to employment. Classes and workshops include GED classes in Spanish and English, ESL classes including beginning, intermediate and advanced English. Computer classes are offered too, and include Microsoft office, web search and electronic mail. TOFL preparation is an English exam that is required for non English speakers to attend college. The centers also coordinate tutoring programs and resources for school age kids.
