Thousands of New Yorkers need help and advice with legal problems. With the weak economy the need for free legal services and advice is continuing to rapidly grow. LawHelp.org/NY is a place that people can turn to. It is a one-stop legal information portal for low to moderate income New York residents.

The new feature, LiveHelp, is yet another very important addition to the various programs that are currently serving the record number of unrepresented litigants who are currently in New York's courts. As courts, attorneys, and legal service organizations create new legal assistance programs to address their needs, LawHelp/NY is helping people find them and is publicizing these services.
What services are offered by LawHelp.org/NY?
They are extensive. LawHelp.org/NY will provide residents with free, user-friendly resources and services that supply critical legal information in up to twenty different areas of law. In particular, it can especially help Hispanics, limited English proficient residents, and immigrants who may be facing legal problems.

LiveHelp Features
LiveHelp will provide free individual, online assistance via live chat with a volunteer (usually an attorney) who is highly trained to navigate the legal resources available to the user. The chat will direct people to the legal information, counseling, and resources that they may need, including answers to questions about legal rights, referrals to legal aid organizations and programs, and access to tools for those who are going to court without a lawyer. For example, they can provide such do-it-yourself tips and answers for housing court, debt counseling, and other legal problems.
