Fort Lauderdale and Broward County foreclosure prevention.

Broward County and the City of Fort Lauderdale administer a couple different foreclosure prevention and mortgage assistance programs. In addition county residents can contact a HUD approved housing/foreclosure counseling agency for free advice and counseling services. Florida has been hit hard by the housing crisis, and every agency is committed to do its best to help as many homeowners as possible keep their home.

Broward County and Fort Lauderdale HUD agencies

Broward County Housing Authority, which is located at 4780 North State Road 7. The Main Office in Lauderdale Lakes and can be called at 954-497-4583. Some of the services offered include Mortgage Delinquency, Foreclosure Prevention Counseling, Support for Predatory Lending and Home Loans, Default Resolution Counseling, Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Counseling, Renters Assistance, and Loss Mitigation.

Deerfield Beach Housing Authority has its office on 533 South Dixie Highway. Phone 954-425-8449 (extension 110). Find help for Predatory Home Loans, Foreclosure Counseling, Money Debt Management, Credit Repair, Homebuyer Education Programs, Renters Assistance, as well as Mortgage Delinquency and Default Resolution Counseling.

The Florida Bar Association has partnered with local law firms and non-profit housing organizations to launch a toll-free hot line. The resource is known as Florida Attorneys Saving Homesat 866-607-2187. The line was created in order to help aid homeowners who may have already missed payments on their home loans or who may not be able to make their next mortgage payment but are not yet in foreclosure. The goal of the bar association is to pair struggling homeowners with local attorneys and lawyers who will offer their services pro bono (at no charge). Loss Mitigation, Pre and Post-purchase Counseling, Homebuyer Education Programs, and Mortgage Delinquency and Default Resolution Counseling.

 

 

The national not for profit organization Consumer Credit Counseling Services has two locations in the region. One is at 3170 North Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point Florida (phone 800-355-2227) and the second office is at 4491 South State Road 7, Suite 201 in Davie Florida. Call 800-355-2227. Resources provided include Debt Reduction, Home Equity Conversion Mortgage Counseling, Mortgage Delinquency and Free Foreclosure Counseling, Marketing and Outreach Initiatives, and Loss Mitigation.

Urban League of Broward County, address 11 Northwest 36th Avenue, phone 954-625-2570, Fort Lauderdale Florida. Get advice for dealing with Predatory Lending, Homebuyer Education Programs, Information on Mortgage Assistance Programs, and Counseling both before and after buying a home.

Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida, Inc. is located in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-564-4037. Programs include Loss Mitigation, Home Loan Delinquency and Default Resolution Counseling, Home Improvement and Rehabilitation Counseling, Outreach and Free Counseling.

Housing Foundation of America of Pembroke Pines is located at 2400 North University Drive #200. Call 954-923-5001. Speak to a counselor to learn about one or more of the following. Foreclosure Mediation is a relatively new option that was created for Fort Lauderdale and County homeowners. A qualified individual will get help from a trained mediator, who will work with both the lender and homeowner to find some type of solution. If one can be found. Broward County Foreclosure Prevention Program is a program that was designed to help people either avoid or stop a foreclosure, and to help them preserve the affordable housing stock of Broward County for single family home owners. The program will be able to provide a deferred payment loan (meaning it does not immediately need to be repaid) to pay defaulted mortgages where the home owner is in default at least thirty (30) days.
