Both individuals and families in need of assistance can contact a church or non-profit soup kitchen or food pantry near them for help, referrals, and information. Each food bank or church is committed to help move families toward self-sufficiency and assist them in dealing with a short term hardship. Aid will vary by center, but can include grocery items such as dairy, fruit, meat, and vegetables. These can be distributed in addition to hot meals. Thousands of individuals will receive an abundance of fresh food or other types of groceries every month. High quality foodstuffs and groceries come from a variety of sources including donations from the community, local grocery stores, and even organic farmers.
