Whether at Thanksgiving, Christmas, or another holiday, there is assistance for less fortunate El Paso families. Children can receive free gifts from Adopt a Family or Angel Tree programs. There may also be entire meals served by some charities or churches, including at Thanksgiving. More information on the toy and food programs in the community are below.
Donations are used from the community to fund these Christmas programs. There are new or gently used items collected by local non-profits, charities, and businesses. This ranges from toys to games, gift cards, clothing, and educational supplies such as books. Then, during the appropriate holiday, volunteers from the El Paso County Texas charities will pass out the items to income qualified families.
Most of the assistance is for children and senior citizens in the community. They are often the focus of the staff at the non-profits, as this want these groups to experience some type of joy at Thanksgiving as well as Christmas.
