Free Christmas and holiday assistance Dutchess County.

There are a number of places to get help at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other holidays in Dutchess County. Low income families can get free meals, children can get free Christmas toys, and there are also boxes of groceries, turkey dinners at Thanksgiving, and more. Assistance is also given to single moms and dads as well as senior citizens during the Christmas holiday period.

Below are the main holiday assistance programs. They include Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, Adopt a Family, and more. All across Dutchess County are churches, charities, and non-profits that offer help during the holidays. Whether it is a toy for a kid, a free gift certificate, holiday meal or food box, free Christmas presents, or even referrals, there is assistance available for low income and/or struggling families.

Apply early, in the fall or early winter. As the demand is high and the toys, meals, and gifts go quickly.

They have free holiday food baskets as well as groceries for Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is also a free Christmas gift, toy, and present program known as Adopt-a-family. It also passes out free winter coats or clothes.

There are free Christmas gifts to low income children in the community. Games, books, food, financial aid, shelter, Christmas toys and more is offered as well. Hot lunches and a food pantry can also serve Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.

They only help existing clients of Astor Services. Free wrapped toys are passed out from the Adopt a family/Child holiday program.

Toys for Tots of Dutchess County
The pickup dates are in late November through early December. Dial 211 to apply or donate. It is run in partnership with the Rochdale Fire Department 1075 Dutchess Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY.
