Bethel Home and Services financial and housing assistance programs.

Bethel Home and Services provides financial assistance across the counties of La Crosse, Vernon, and Crawford. The agency serves as a place for low income families, the unemployed, and seniors to go to for help. The agency does have limited resources and will require families to be working towards self-sufficiency.

The main programs available in Wisconsin are below. They range from housing, rental and utility bill assistance, to food and basic needs. Other self-sufficiency resources will be coordinated as well by the agency.

Transitional Supportive Housing is available for homeless individuals, families and households. It will also help them in returning to independent living situations in Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, and Vernon counties. Clients will be offered with access to limited term affordable housing which will give them a place to stay. This is for formerly homeless individuals and households. Participants of the transitional housing must be willing to work on self-sufficiency goals and it lasts for up to 2 years.

Disabled, homeless and mentally ill in La Crosse County Wisconsin can get help from the S.O.A.R. Program. It provides them with case management services. This is offered as support and numerous services are available through this housing and self-sufficiency program. Assistance is available in applying for Social Security disability benefits and navigating the application process for public aid.

Permanent Supportive Housing from New Hope is for low income families and individuals with disabilities. It is only for the currently homeless. A case manager from Bethel Home and Services assists clients. They will get help in developing goals and the social worker will partner with them to monitor progress toward self-sufficiency.

This also known as Housing First. This assistance program offers clients several housing solutions and case management services. It is an option for both homeless individuals and those mental health issues. A case manager from the faith based agency assists clients to develop goals and monitor progress towards employment goals and self-sufficiency.

Rental assistance from Bethel Home and Services and their Homeless Prevention Program is in high demand. The non-profit agency offers eviction prevention and help with paying first month's rent assistance in Monroe County Wisconsin and nearby areas.

Services from the faith based Charity include landlord mediation, first month's rent, hotel vouchers, and eviction prevention assistance in Vernon and Crawford counties. There may be some support in paying for security deposits too. Applicants for homeless prevention must be facing imminent eviction or be homeless. Their struggle needs to be baused by a lack of rent payment. Funds are limited.

Several additional low income housing units are also located in the service territory. They include 8th Street Apartments, Rockland Duplexes, 2-bedroom apartments in La Crosse Wisconsin, and more. They are offered to low-income families. There are a few 3-bedroom duplexes in Rockland as well for low-income and market-rate households.

People looking to buy a home can access counseling. The organization offers homebuyer counseling to those who’re considering or planning to purchase a home in Vernon or other counties. No income restrictions are in place for this advice. All of the counseling is HUD approved and the agency meets Fannie Mae requirements for accessing the First-Time Homebuyer Tax Credit. These first time buyers can benefit from advice and services which include assistance with paying closing costs and down payment.

The Owner-occupied Home Rehabilitation Program as well as Home Rehabilitation Assistance is offered by Bethel Home and Services. The agency helps working poor and low- and moderate- income homeowners with repair or updating their home. Funding is limited, and loans may be issued in some cases. The aid is focused on rehabilitation and improvements to the home. It can make it more safe, sanitary, and even energy efficient.

Home Weatherization solutions will help low-income and working poor households in reducing their energy bills. Seniors are also major beneficiaries.
