Atlanta Georgia free fans.

Various locations of the Salvation Army in Fulton County and the greater Atlanta region provide free fans and other cooling relief to families who need help. The organizations partner together to help people cool down during the hot and humid Georgia summer.

When the temperature spikes, hundreds of free electric and box fans are usually distributed from multiple centers, churches and Salvation Army locations in Georgia. All items provided are free, and are normally distributed from their three primary Metro Atlanta locations. From time to time they may also be able to provide cash to pay cooling bills if you are faced with a shut off, or gently used air conditioners may be offered. Everything offered really depends on the non-profits funding and number of donations received.

In addition to the fans, they also operate cooling centers in Atlanta. The Salvation Army location at 3455 Sugarloaf Parkway is just one example of one center that will also be turned into a cooling station. The stations will normally be open from late morning until 5pm, and people of all backgrounds and income can come in and get relief from the hot summer and what are sometimes triple digit temperatures. The Atlanta location at 967 Dewey Street SW will also offer a cooling center, a mobile canteen, fans and ice cream to those who need to get out of the sun and heat. The Decatur Georgia location is located at 3500 Sherrydale Lane, and this center will be another cooling station and volunteers will also hand out electric fans to those who need them.

Seniors in Atlanta as well as families with young children, and especially those that don’t have an air conditioner, are at extreme risk during the hot spells. So the Salvation Army programs can help these individuals. They are usually the first in line for any grants or funding.

The non-profit will also sometimes deploy several of their canteens to go into the community to provide water and other support to those people who want a cool place to visit in order to get out of the heat and sun and enjoy a cold glass of water.

The Salvation Army in Decatur and Atlanta also participate with and accept contributions from generous individuals and churches in the Fulton County community. The fans are usually distributed among the various centers and charities based upon their service needs and the demand from that area. For example, the Lawrenceville location may have 50 fans, and Atlanta may have say 400 free fans to distribute as the population and number of requests are higher there.

The basic needs of the low income and struggling are continually addressed by the Salvation Army as well. The non-profit has extensive experience in helping and addressing people in the community. Every person in the region, whether old, young, poor, or homeless, deserves shelter, a fan, or even just a cold glass of water.
