Rental assistance in Allen County Ohio

Families in Allen County that need help with their rent can seek help from a charity or government agency in the Lima region. The financial aid is mostly for families facing a short term hardship. Grants will be focused on rental costs for those residents, while others that need long term support can apply for section 8 HUD vouchers or other services.

Homeless prevention is a goal. It is often less expensive for an agency as well as society at large to offer small amounts of assistance for a portion of the back rent. This is often better than rehousing or sheltering a family. As this occurs, the applicant will be enrolled into budgeting and other financial literacy programs.

Rehousing is another option in Allen County Ohio. Funds may be offered for a security or utility deposit on an approved low income apartment. This will help the individual (whether they are a veteran, senior, or single parent) emerge from homeless. There may also be help with moving expenses, first months rent expenses or housing search.
