If you do not have a phone, then you will need to drive or walk there. Sorry, you need to do something. This link gives the background on Section 8 programs. Most states are linked from here. So select your state to find the exact address of a section 8 program in your town. You will find phone numbers, addresses, cities, and other details on where to turn to for housing and section 8.

Use this link for information on rent arrears and help in Philly. You should be able to qualify, especially if getting a second job. Many organizations look at that as a positive. Try Community Services 215-685-3600 They offer rental assistance, food, clothing, career counseling, and other assistance programs. Some other places to turn to for rent help include Tenant Action Group (215) 575-0700 and other places that you will find at the site / link below.

Yes, the economy is weak and many people like you dad have had a reduction in income. There are some options in Los Angeles. Here are some charities and non-profits in the area that may be able to help with housing costs.
Organizations such as Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels Charities Program, which has a phone number of 213-680-5225
The Salvation Army has locations throughout LA, and they can often provide emergency aid, food, counseling, debt reductions services, and rent help. 323-587-4221

Jacksonville is in Duval County Floriday, and there are places to go to, like community action agency, churches, and other places that may be able to provide rent help, money for bills, and other forms of assistance.
Some options or choices may include Family Foundations, phone (904) 396-4846
The local community action agency is Northeast Florida Community Action Agency, and that phone number is (904) 398-7472. The Duval community action agency may offer the most programs and options for you, so may want to start with contacting them.

Louisiana and Baton Rouge have been hit hard by the Gulf Spill as well as Katrina. I think the area will turn around someday. If you need rent help in Baton Rouge, try calling West Baton Rogue Helping Hand (phone number 225-346-1008). They can provide financial assistance, and maybe even help you find a job. While there is not a community action agency, you can try calling Baton Rouge Office of Social Service, and their phone number is (225) 358-4561. Among other services offered by this social services type agency is FEMA - Emergency Rental / Mortgage Assistance Program, which can provide Baton Rouge residents with rent and housing assistance. The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank is another place to call for help, free food, and cash grants.

Use this site to find phone numbers and information on Bergen County New Jersey assistance programs. The local United Way offers eviction prevention and rent assistance programs. The number is (201-291-4050). They also partner, and may fund, other rent and government programs. They can even have info on ways to get long term self-sufficiency, such as from debt counseling.

I need to know your state, county, and/or city. Without having that info it is difficult. In the meantime, try your community action agency for rent help. Call the Salvation Army or catholic Charities. You need to make calls, and talk to different agencies and charities. Ask about rental programs.
