Here is information on free legal programs in California.
http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/cal ... istan.html
As far as help for your bills, navigate the main site of needhelppayingbills.
The legal programs include Bay Area Legal Aid in Monterey. Another good place to try for pro bono legal aid is Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA).
Phone numbers and information on the application process is available on the site. Most people are very happy with the quality of legal services provided.

I have moved to monterey county to spend what little time I have left with my elderly mother who is currently in ICU at salinas valley memorial hospital. I have been spending as much time as possible with her and I have fallen behind on my rent, light, city and phone bills. Any help with programs, resoures,or charitys would help greatly

That is in Hillsborough County Florida. I bet Ruskin will be served by the agencies and non-profits that cover the entire county. For example, try Community Action Program (CAP). They may be able to provide some grants on their own, but they also partner with local non-profits and charities, as well as Florida and federal government programs. Call them at (813) 272-6776. Other options include the Hillsborough area Catholic Charities (727-893-1313). it doesn't really matter what your religion is, but they will do what they can to help as many people as possible. Another agency to try is The United Food Bank and Services (813-764-0625).

Most of these places provide information or financial assistance, and may be able to help you find a job or other ways to support yourself and your family.

It is difficult to pay the bills when on unemployment. Try contacting your local Maine community action agency, or branch of salvation army. Also, much housing and mortgage help is also available, and here is more info on the various programs and options.

I am currently unemployed and have been beging for help paying my phone bill, electric bill and my rent.
I am currently a victim of the unemployment extention program which hasn't been approved by the Senate. I have written my 2 senators in Maine and have gotten no where. I went to Genral assistance was refused. I haven't paid my June and July rent. I got a notice from thelocal sheriff office to vacate the premises due to non payment. I ahve tried everything to get help. The local housing authority is taking applications for subsidizing housing but it could be up to a year.

For Des Moines and Iows assistance, there are several non-profits, charities, and assistance programs. One of the big ones is the Salvation Army, which can be reached at Salvation Army (515) 282-3599. They offer help for rent, utility and heating bills, and other aid.
Another is the City of Des Moines Community Development Department (phone (515) 283-4180), which also offers various forms of assistance.

I would like to know how does a person begin with filing for assistance?

There is a family in Iowa with a critically sick girl whose mother quit her job to help with the in-home care of her. This care involves almost around-the-clock care which includes in-home nursing care. This girl's dad just filed for divorce leaving them with no income. They also have another daughter.

How do they begin?

Thank you.
