Dear Sirs/Ladies,
I would like to convey my family's situation in hopes that maybe your organization will care enough to help. I am an English teacher who lost her job in March. My unemployment did not cover all my bills but we were able to pay them through June. Our landlord petition the court to evict us even though they received our June rent late. My landlord wanted 1500.00 to stay in the apartment.
I asked The salvation army, Greensboro Urban Ministry, Greensboro Coalition and local churches. They each took turns pushing my family to the other one with the response of no money, check with us next month for 6 weeks. One of the organizations( Open door ministry of High Point) didn't even bother to return my call after she was asked to contact us by the Homeless prevention in Raleigh, NC.
Through the help of an old friend I was able to get a job at a call center. We are living in a local hotel for two weeks but it isn't the answer. We need help. I am not an addict or drunk or mentally ill; just a four person family that needs help; after paying taxes or 30 years it would be nice to have some assistance. Can someone truly help us?

My landlord of 8 years kicked us out because he wanted to remodel and find someone who would pay more then I could afford. My two children and I are currently staying with someone who hates children. I'm trying to get on my feet but have no help to do it. I'm 27 and never had a license and I'm having a hard time finding a job.

I have applied every location I can find. Have asked everyone and all they can tell me is to apply for HUD. HUD isn't taking applications and have me a list of homeless shelters. I can't do that to my kids.

I'm in Lumberton NC right now but if anyone has any info on programs in Brunswick county NC it would be helpful. We just want to go home to Brunswick!

We do have information on government and public programs in Forsyth County, but don't limit your search to them. Also look into charity resources too, such as churches, Salvation Army, and more. There are different places to try in Mecklenburg county for rental assistance. the landlord does not need to work with you if they have a lease, but that being said, it is unfortunate they won't try. Maybe ask for a mediation session as well with a local pro-bono law firm. But as you go down that path, also find the rent assistance programs in Charlotte.

My husband and I have under $1000 a month for a 5 person family right now. While cost of living in NC is low, that is still not a lot of money.
Two of the 3 children are in diapers. We have to be out of the house we are in now by the 31st of this month. We owe back rent, and cannot afford to keep the place we are in now. We are expected to pay another $350 on the 8th of September, plus we have to pay $95 for car insurance. We need diapers. We need gas money to make sure my husband can go look for and get to work. As of the 1st of September we will owe $495 in rent, and will be unable to pay. I don't get money until the 2nd Wednesday of the month, and I only get $667 a month. My husband is military, and has a 2.5-3 day drill in January, makes $100 for a full day's work, but won't be expecting his pay till the end of the month ($250-300). I would have to pay $350+$495+$95+diapers and gas on $667. We need help.

Could not pay this months (July) rent, will receive eviction notice (to go to court) in 2 days, eviction in 2 weeks. Desperate to avoid eviction in Charlotte. I am unemployed now, but will be okay in 2 months (able to pay rent and bills). Family would like to help, but unable to. I have sold everything I have of value that I can sell to raise money temporarily. Is there any help for one month?

I am a single parent of two children. I lost my job at NC Baptist Hospital in January, and have since lost my unemployment. I am applying to every position I see, but am having no luck. For the past two months, I have depended on my 65 year old parents for help.

I contacted crisis assistance ministry in Charlotte North Carolina where I reside and they said that no one gets help with first months rent. And the landlords are not wanted to work with me they giving me 10-18-13 to pay my rent or the going to file on me I don't want top at my apartment here. I'm a newly college student with 3 small children. I will be evicted in the next 3 days if I don't pay my balance of $800. My balance was 1300 I got it down to $800. I live in Raleigh NC. I'm going to have a procedure done on my back and will be laid up for 6 weeks. Already applied for SSI with the state of North Carolina but that can take up to 8 months. There's no guarantee that this procedure will work, and I already have 5 herniated disks. If it does not work I will likely not work again. I am 59 and have spoken with SSI, the law firm they referred me to, DCF for food stamps and vocational rehab. All are willing to help to some extent but its going to take time. I recently moved to central North Carolina from eastern part of state due to having to short sale home because of financial hardship. I am single, 57 years and lost all of savings trying to keep home.
I had to leave my job there in August 2013 and move in with my son and his family in NC.
I applied for unemployment benefits was denied because I quit but I had no choice due to losing home.
I have now been approved for an apartment in a Senior Housing Community in Cary, NC.
Rent is 495.00 a month plus I am trying to keep medical insurance which is 345.00 a month.
I need help!!! I am currently trying to find employment. Have never been in this situation before and I feel HELPLESS.
I have applied for food stamps, but said it would take 30 days before I know.

Why did you move with no job and no funds for rent? That will make your application very difficult to consider as it doesn't show you have a means for financial and self-sufficiency. Anyhow, there are some agencies you can call in North Carolina for rental and housing assistance. There are also some shelters in case you need them in a week or so. Learn about and review the main information on housing and rent assistance in North Carolina.

Well, just having your GED is often not enough for a job these days. We hate to tell you that, but it is the truth. For a job, look into a workforce center or government programs. There are many in North Carolina and that also operate across the Charlotte region and Mecklenburg county. They can offer resume review, job search, and much more to the unemployed. My husband been out of work for 2 years now. He has looked but no luck. He went back to school and got his GED thinking that would help and no luck still. I am behind on my rent and I am paying my house we are living off my SSI we have 5 kids and we cant buy them stuff for them to start school.
