Families that need a little, short term help can contact Tri-Community Food Bank. The Pinal County based agency should be able to provide a free box of food from the pantry, baby formula, rent or energy bill help or diapers for a newborn. The goal of the charity is to help in a crisis and give income qualified families what they need to make their situation a little easier. This form of support is offered providing the applicant is working to address their underlying hardship and end a cycle of poverty or homelessness. Services are offered in Spanish as well.
For those that are not sure where their next meal will come from, or where they will live tomorrow or next month, then Tri-Community may be able to help. A combination of no-interest loans or cash grants may be provided. Or case management will refer clients to other sources of funds or help them apply for benefits or documents they need, such as an ID. A focus of their programs is on residents in the zip codes of 85618, 85623, or 85631.
Tri-Community Food Bank has a main goal to provide emergency food assistance for struggling, low-income people as well as immigrants. A typical order from the pantry will feed all household members for up to three meals a day for a couple weeks. Last year, there were hundreds of orders satisfied for groceries for needy families. Everything that is passed out, such as boxes of groceries, was donated or purchased with donated funds.
There is a distribution center at the Tri-Community center for a meals on wheels service. The agency delivers food orders to qualified, low-income or disabled seniors who reside in the service area. Qualified applicants will be determined by the Tri-Community Food Bank. They will formally need to apply for help, and any aid offered is done in partnership with the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), as they too are an equal opportunity provider and employer.
The center at the non-profit also serves as a partner agency for other charities and churches in Pinal County. This service provides groceries for disadvantaged clients or newcomers to the area, such as refugees or immigrants. Eligibility criteria for this program requires that a family is simply in dire need of food and is a Pinal County resident. If a client meets approval of the application process in place, arrangements will be made to send their requests to other local pantries or soup kitchens.
Support services and emergency aid from Tri-Community Food Bank are for income qualified residents. There will also be a strict application process, with participation in counseling, budgeting, and more required. All funds are very limited. Contact them for more information or applications.

Staff can direct clients to Head Start providers. This is an early childhood development program administered locally by Pinal County for three- to five-year-old children and their families. This program provides many services to its clients. Immigrants and the disabled can also apply. They include the following.
- There may be free nutritious breakfast and lunch.
- Health screenings are arranged for both the child and parents.
- Children take part in age-appropriate classroom activities, social services and there are also opportunities for parental involvement.
Head Start also caters to the needs of disabled children. Transportation may be available across some parts of Pinal County through local school districts or transit providers.
