I am writing to you on behalf of a friend of mine who lives in Lakeland Florida. She is 85 year old, on a small pension and SSI which was stopped last year, and is overwhelmed with her medical bills she has incurred. I am in Canada, a bit of a distance away from her. She has asked me to see if I can find her help in reducing the bill amount, or finding any grants that she would be available for.
I have searched multiple websites and came across yours. Your website sounds promising. If you could direct me to places that she could call, or apply to in order to help relieve her stress about these medical bills, I would be very grateful. Or how she can get her SSI restarted. I can then pass on the information or do some 3 way calling to the agencies and get her the help she needs.
The bills are causing her much angst and her stress levels are through the roof. She has only her social security to live on
Thank you for any help you can provide.

If your SSI stopped, try your local DDS office. As they are for state filings. Or try social security administration too. See what the reason that it was stopped. Find details here on
Disability Determination Services (DDS). https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... _dete.html

SSI stopped years ago

I am a homeless citizen of Jackson County, Florida. I received SSI/SSA for over thirteen years. It was stopped and for over three years.
I fought to regain my benefits. During that time, I lived in a local park, a barn, a condemned home with gaping holes in the roof and floor, no electricity, no plumbing, in a basement, and in a laundry room. My health has rapidly disintegrated since I lost my SSI and was stopped. My teeth are in horrible condition. My general physician has referred me to a neurologist and a digestive disease specialist.
On October 1, 2023, my 2016 Hyundai Veloster that I purchased with my back pay (three weeks prior to this) was stolen by a man I had met one time. The insurance company I had paid almost $2000 for a six month term of full coverage, has refused to pay for the repairs incurred while in the possession of the person who stole it. The government stopped my SSI years ago. This after they had my car towed to a dealership in another state.
Since the theft of my car, I have been stranded in motel which is costing me the majority of my monthly fixed income.
Please help me!
