Senior and struggling with my debts to lenders

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am trying to gather information for my mother-in-law. She is 75 years old and is disabled.
She has racked up about $25000 in credit card debt.
Her income is only her Social Security and Pension, totaling about 1300/month.
She is making her payments, which is barely touching the principle and is panicking a little more every day. Are there any programs available to her which can forgive this debt?
She owns nothing, no home, nothing.
Any guidance you can offer will help me help her.
Thank you for your help, we truly appreciate it.

She may have to file bankruptcy to get out from under. There are no forgiveness plans for debts; you make debt you are expected to pay it. I would suggest she contact a bankruptcy lawyer and see what her options are.

Well, we do have a list of senior assistance programs. They offer all sorts of support. Maybe try them. Also try a non-profit credit counseling agency as they are a great resource. Find a list of assistance programs for struggling seniors.
