A number of national, state, and local government programs can help with those various needs. Our best summary is here and read how to get assistance from government and get a great summary of the programs and plans. Some can offer cash assistance, some debt counseling, and others more referrals. The bottom line is that there are dozens of financial assistance programs offered by various levels of government out there. Make some calls and look around for aid.

It started with my ex-husband rapidly getting behind on child support due to being unemployed and unable to find any job. Then my only car necessary to get to work died. It ended up being the transmission and a $3200 repair bill. In the meantime, I had to get to work 10 miles away so I rented a car from Enterprise. Even though the rate was reasonable, the longer I kept the rental, the longer it took to pay the mechanic. Ultimately my mechanic let me "rent" my own car and is holding the title til I pay in full. Since August 8th I still owe him 200. I have been paying everything I make toward repair and rental, am close to having utilities shut off, being sued by my town home association for nonpayment and not having a dryer vent inspection done. I'm almost 2 months behind on a newly modified mortgage and I owe more than selling house would net. I filed bankruptcy in 2009 and have no credit. My one friend for 10years who used to help my on occasion bailed because "I'm a *". Who wouldn't be when I have a son to support, a job to get to, no reliable car to get there and living even worse than paycheck to paycheck? If I'm not overdrawn then I have less than $10 in account at payday and have had to borrow gas money to get to work.If my ex husband can't get one job how am I going to get a 2nd job and leave a rebellious 15 year old unsupervised even more?I make a decent paycheck(too much for any public cash assistance) but find myself unable to recover from this over $5000 car expense between repair and rental. I also am going to need new tires riding originals at 92k miles and brakes. I dread getting a blowout on my way to overnight job. I'm losing sleep, getting migraines, and sinking into a major depression. My ex's court date is 12/9 and he is not going to be able to come up with by then $5000 to keep out of jail so I'm that much further behind. We had to opt to drop health insurance for 2012 because it is beyond affordable and high deductible. I have a son in school student but is cracking under the pressure of knowing I may not have the small tuition payment due next month. He has a scholarship but I still have to pay $1500 and books. I've been paying for their medical insurance, braces, and everything else for the better of 10 years since separation. Needless to say, I'm very stressed and can't take much more.Attached is a letter sent to Dr. Drew show and I am trying every which way to get assistance. Got Some help from St. Vincent Depaul with gas bill and food, applying for TRU program for utility assistance. Applied for food stamps no correspondence yet. Over the weekend had to get 2 new tires due to unsafe conditions and have barely any food left and $24 in checking. It seems impossible to catch up especially with chils support in arrears $2400 owe mechanic 200 hundred (he is holding title and can reposs my car) Ex-husband still unable to get job and was just informed I have a medical condition which means more specialists. Been selling possessions at flea market every free day to make it to payday not overdrawn/. Please refer me to any cash assistance available.

I read from this that you may be facing an eviction. If so, call a non-profit for low income housing, rental help, and eviction prevention programs and services. Many are run by community action agencies in every state.

Seems like you need a lot of help. go to the primary site, navigate around, and select you state and city from the navigation bars on left margin. Thousands of phone numbers and agencies are listed. Locate assistance with bills, places to call for free food, and much more. If you have an education the good news is that the unemployment rate for educated people is much lower than those with no degrees.

I had to apply for medical, food stamps and cash assistance. I was eligible for medical assistance and food stamps but decline for cash assistance. Is there any way at all to get cash assistance cause I just had to pay a phone bill of $134.00 and have no money to my name now? I have been harassed for money and threading to turn my services off. If there is some kind of assistance to get and apply for my bills I would greatly appreciate it as soon as possible
