Fleeing with my child

Post by Techstate »

I found you on Google. I'm 41 years old I live in Brooklyn NY. I was never really given the chance to be a father to my child till now. I'm a humble and proud man, asking for help is something I never really did. But I need help badly now.
After years of running with my child and hiding from me, my child's mother is now facing justice. I had to file for custody due to the fact she was in an abusive relationship in front of my child. Over the years of going back and forth to court and her vanishing acts I begun to give up hope and just didn't really care anymore. Now as I said I'm in very desperate. My credit is 524, my savings is zero and my family has turned their backs on me when I need them the most. I can't find a job that will pay me enough to take care of us both and I can't find an apartment.
I go to court on the 25th of June with an almost definite decision granted in my favor. But I have nowhere to bring her. I've been living with my mother who has be recently diagnosed with Parkinson, my sister and my two nephews who over the years we no longer get along. I have been working off the books for some years and have no work history as well as bad credit.
During the time of my filing which was and emergency due to my daughter calling me weekly sometimes daily crying telling me they are fighting in front of her. There is a lot more that I really believe a lesser man would have snapped or walked away from. I am very despite need of any information or help you can provide me, because my daughter's mental health is more important to me then my pride.

If you need some short term shelter in Brooklyn, try the New York City Catholic charities for help. They address everything from immigrants to abuse/violence. there are many churches in the city that you can turn too. They may even have programs around the employment you seek.

My names is Alexandria a single mother of 5 children, and I am thinking of fleeing where I live. We reside at Brooklyn NY 11224 4E. For the last 3 months I’ve been having trouble paying my rent and keeping food on the table. I do work 5 days of the week for a Security company which I bring home 397.90 weekly which I pay rent plus a metro card to get to work. What I am making isn’t enough to Provide food for my family these couple of months. Also, with the weather changing providing winter coats and clothes and house supplies it’s been extremely hard. What I’m requesting is for any type of help from your department so I can stay here vs fleeing the Brooklyn region. It will be highly appreciated or please directed me to the appropriate department. Thank you for taking the time. God Bless

If you are a single mother with 5 kids, sorry but that is impossible to do on your salary. We are not sure what to tell you. Find other people to live with, maybe move back home or make some major changes. As that is not sustainable, much less in NYC / Brooklyn. Anyway, maybe look here for rental assistance in NYC.
