Re: Struggling with paying Oregon utility bills
I would call the electric company and ask what they need from you NOT to turn it off due to medical condition of baby with asthma; maybe a doctors note? Also ask them to work out a payment plan on what is owed. You can try with the water department as well. I would hope if you have a good track record and need help they would provide some relief. Check the resources listed here available in your state in addition call for other resources. Good luck.

Re: Struggling with paying Oregon utility bills
Hello, I am asking for help with my Portland Oregon General Electric bill. I'm on a fixed income from Social Security Disability.
The last 3 months my PGE bill was over $200.00. I had an energy efficient heater install 2 years ago, but that didn't make a noticeable change to
the amounts of the PGE bill. I even turned down the thermostat on my water heater. I also applied for information with a no duct heating system.
It's supposed to cut my PGE bill in half, so says the web page. I'm am trying to reduce my bill any way I can. Unfortunately, that doesn't help pay the bill now do. Any help you can provide would be deeply appreciated.

Re: Struggling with paying Oregon utility bills
Good for you in applying for conservation measures, doing the research to get help, and taking aggressive steps. As far as the $200+ bills that are due to Portland Oregon General Electric, ask them about a payment plan. Also inquire into LIHEAP applications for paying what is due. Those two options may assist you as well. The thermostat can have the temperature adjusted too, which should help you save. Here are the Oregon utility assistance programs to apply to for help, so go for it!
