I live in Jacksonville Florida and my electric/water bill is due to be shut off by December 17th. It is a double bill because my family is a month behind and when we called to get an extension JEA said that we would have to pay the full 2 months amount. I have 11 people living in my home. We have struggled to find jobs so money has been really tight. Could you please send me some information on where I can get help or resources for help with paying utility bills? Thank you.

You can't afford an energy bill with 11 people? Not even combining part time job income, unemployment, etc. If not, probably do not have many options. Anyhow, here is a listing of Florida energy and utility assistance programs, including some from JEA. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/flo ... ng_as.html Try these for help.

I need help paying my electric and gas bills! My husband is the only one working right now because I just had a baby 6 weeks ago. We have 5 children total in the house plus my husband and I! It is very hard for us to keep up on all the bills plus all the other expenses. We fell behind on all of our bills and are now at a point where we just can't afford to pay the most important bills. Our monthly income is about 2800!

It looks like you use Ameren in Illinois. If so, we have information on their programs. But it may be hard to qualify as agencies and case managers will ask if your are struggling with your utility and other bills, why continue to expand the family. Most agencies want to see people gain self-sufficiency, and based on that message it does appear to be questionable. Anyhow, find assistance from Ameren in Illinois.

I am in dire need of assistance to pay Cleco $137.00 before the 30th of this month, or they will disconnect me first thing Monday morning of the 30th of July. I have had to take out payday Loans to pay the last 4 bills, and I am disabled with MS, and a single mom living on SSI each month. I use very little electricity, and definitely not $250.00-$280.00 per month. Now in order for me to get current they want $287.00 by 7-30-2014. But $137.00 before 7-30- or they will disconnect me. I would appreciate anything you can do to help me.

Isn't CLECO based in Louisiana? Regardless, they do have different options, such as payment plans. What did they say when you told them a bill of $250 does not sound right? Did they investigate? Anyhow, here is their phone number, and call them. Read more CLECO programs.
