Together Rx Access Card Provides Help.
Find ways to get help with prescription drugs from Together Rx Access(R), which is a prescription drug savings program that is sponsored by many of the nation's leading pharmaceutical and medical companies. They have recently announced that they have expanded the drug assistance Program's eligibility income levels to help even more uninsured families and individuals save on the medicines they need to stay healthy and to manage chronic illnesses and conditions. Under the new modified program and income levels, almost 90 percent of uninsured Americans will be able to receive assistance from the Together Rx Access Program. Phone 1-800-444-4106.
The increased and enhanced income levels for which families and individuals in need are eligible for the Together Rx Access Program are now:
- $45,000 for a single person (formerly $30,000)
- $60,000 for a family of two (formerly $40,000)
- $75,000 for a family of three (formerly $50,000)
- $90,000 for a family of four (formerly $60,000)
- $105,000 for a family of five (formerly $70,000)
To help show the need for assistance, over the past 12 months, the unemployment rate in the United States has increased by over 3 percent, which by some estimates from many experts may result in more than three million additional Americans without health insurance from their employers or without the means to pay for health insurance. In addition to these high levels of job cuts and employment stress, results from a recent Kaiser Family Foundation survey which was conducted in February 2009 showed that over 50 percent of American families and households have cut back on need and sometimes critical healthcare due to cost concerns in the past 12 months. One in five (21 percent) of those surveyed say they have not filled a prescription drug medicine, and one in six (15 percent) say they have cut their medical pills in half or skipped doses to make their prescriptions last longer(3).
Prescription drug medicines offer individuals with chronic disabilities and illnesses a chance to live a more normal and healthy life. With today's uncertain economy and people struggling, that possibility is quickly snatched away as more and more families face the loss of a job or health benefits. The very important decision by Together Rx Access to expand the eligibility criteria to help those without health insurance and to provide those in need of medicines keeps the much needed that chance to live longer and feel better a concrete possibility.
