Pleasanton assistance programs.
Rental Assistance Programs
Assistance programs that offer direct financial assistance to Pleasanton households for the payment of monthly rental costs and bills are highly competitive in the Bay Area and the amount of assistance provided is very limited. The primary form of rental assistance and grants is the Section 8 program. However, there are other rental assistance programs.
The City of Pleasanton, in collaboration with Allied Housing, Inc. ((510) 979-2003) and the City of Livermore, provides limited temporary rental assistance through a program known as the Tri-Valley Housing Scholarship Program to participants in the job training programs. This assistance program provides monthly rent grants and subsidies to households that are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Grants and subsidies are provided while the head of household is undergoing job training and the subsidies are gradually phased out after employment is secured and the individuals income begins.
Another rental assistance program is offered by ECHO Housing ((925) 449-7340), which is a Bay Area nonprofit agency. They also provide a limited Rental Assistance Program (RAP). The program provides assistance with move-in costs and it will help Pleasanton residents with delinquent rent due to a temporary financial setback or emergency. Find additional ways to get rent help.
The Pleasanton California Salvation Army is a great place to contact for assistance as well. The phone number is (925) 685-6900, and address of the main thrift store/office is 6160 Stoneridge Mall Rd Pleasanton, CA 94588. They partner with various local charities, non-profits, and government programs to serve as a resource for the low to moderate income in the region. This local office may have a limited amount of direct financial assistance and grants they can pay out to help pay for medications, rent help, and utilities, but more often than not they can direct or refer people to other local agencies and assistance programs.
Additional emergency rental assistance can be offered by Operation Dignity. The charity provides emergency housing aid and support. 510-844-0785
Valley Bible Church of Pleasanton: has created a food pantry for the low income in the region. They may also be able to provide some basic counseling and referrals to other local charities.
