Housing assistance

The City of Fort Wayne has launched received almost $10 million in federal grants and is using those funds to launch housing programs. They will include providing rent assistance, mortgage help, and even some aid for home repairs. The various assistance programs will help rehab and improve abandoned homes, help families with making down payments when buying a new or existing home, and those in need can even get help with preventing a foreclosure or receiving rent assistance. The initial funding of the program will provide over $700,000 for homeowner repairs, almost $400,000 for down payment assistance when buying a home, and over $100,000 for a mortgage foreclosure prevention program. Get free health care in Fort Wayne Indiana

Those in need can receive free health care from Living Luke’s Legacy clinic. In addition, the clinic provides  free over-the-counter medications to some patients and they can even give prescriptions for antibiotics for others.

The health care is about open three to four hours every other Wednesday and every other Saturday.

There is no charge for services. For example, physicals are free. Other health care is free. Living Luke’s doesn’t charge for the prescription medications it hands out. Help with paying bills and financial assistance for paying rent

One charity/non-profit to call is the Broadway Christian Church ((260) 422-3498). The church - charity can provide help with offering free food, clothing and limited supply of bus passes. Some housing and rent help may be provided as well to Fort Wayne Indiana residents.

Catholic Charities ((260) 422-5625) can provide information, assessment, referrals and limited financial assistance for paying rent and energy bills. Administers the Gift of Warmth Program for paying utilities, as well as details on other Indiana utility assistance programs.





Forty Wayne Salvation Army Social Service program can provide both energy and utility assistance. The Social Service financial assistance and grant program of the Salvation Army helps people and families in need of help. No matter your background, race, color, creed, gender or age, you can apply for help. Access emergency assistance (rent, utilities, heating bills) as well as groceries and food pantry are provided.
