Hi Mitch,
So I read that like you are working with Rocket on a modification? But in addition to that, which is great you are, get some HUD non-profit counseling or other support to make sure nothing wrong with paperwork, Rocket treats you fair, etc. Here is our page to NJ HUD counseling agencies which tend to offer phone consultations and maybe in person too. The price may be free if your income qualified, so try them.

My name is Mitch I live with my 4 member family in a home in Mount Arlington, NJ 07856. I was just reading an article about different types of assistance including for a foreclosure. I am not certain if I qualify or not. We are a family of four struggling to make ends meet. We are currently trying to work out a program with our Mortgage servicer who is Rocket Mortgage.
We obtained this Mortgage in 2020 from Bank of America. I was attempting to refinance the home we owned at the time, however due to my eligibility, Bank of America suggested I take advantage of the loan being offered to me. The loan was 250 K more than I asked for but it enabled us to move into a brand new house, instead of refinancing the current house at that time.
Since then, due to several orthopedic matters, I have encountered a hardship as I am not able to work as I once did. I take medicine that makes me very tired. Which makes it difficult to make any type of commitment to a job.
I have a failed cervical fusion which is my primary problem. Additionally, I suffer from Sciatica due to spinal stenosis in my lumber spine? I broke my left wrist on Thanksgiving of 2023 and almost three years later I continue to be in pain. I went to a hand specialist who said that my wrist was not set correctly when it was broken, subsequently, I suffer from tendonitis in my wrist, that my doctor said is most likely not going to get better. The three ailments I mentioned have caused me hardship because I failed to recover successfully from my surgeries.
I read this article on the Internet and I was hoping that you can help me get a loan modification. I have been negotiating by myself, however, it's not clear if I am being taken advantage of. Our mortgage has changed ownership approximately six times since 2007 and as a result, I have received both fraudulent as well as real efforts to help me. The trouble is, it's almost impossible to try to tell who is trying to help us and who is trying to scam us. The mortgage refinance market is tough place and if you don't know what you are doing, you can get hurt badly. That is why I am writing to you. I am currently trying to get a loan modification with Rocket Mortgage services, but the amount of paperwork is overwhelming. Not to mention Rocket Mortgage frequency when it comes to losing or misplacing our documentation. We have it all in triplicate now, so if they lose it, we can send them another copy. They are obviously very busy and keeping track of all the requests.
If you can be of assistance, please contact me because I need some help.
Thank you for your time.
Mitch
