Uggh...you do need to stop listening to that internet guy immediately. With your income you’re actually in a pretty good spot I think, you’re just behind and in a tough spot and don't feel bad as many people are.
Call Bank of America loss mitigation and ask them for help or options, and I see the number is 800-669-6607. Maybe ask for a “reinstatement payoff” or “bring current quote” or options and really just talk to them so you know exactly what it takes to stop the sale. Also ask about a repayment plan or loan modification since you’re back working full time now.
In NC you can also call the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency foreclosure help line which I googled at 1-888-442-8188 as from what I know they work with people in active foreclosure and can sometimes intervene before a sale date.
Key thing is just get back in direct contact with BOA and ignore anything that tells you not to pay or not to talk to them. That advice is what put you in this spot. You still have time so use it and ask for help and look into options.
