Got to be hard especially with both of you out of work at the same time (but the unemployment rate is low so keep trying!) and also you trying to hold onto the car so you can get to interviews.
Try DSS (315-435-2700) and ask about their Emergency Assistance / Temporary Assistance because that’s the program that sometimes helps with rent, utilities, and short-term crisis situations tied to job loss which may cover the car too, but not always sure.
Also try Catholic Charities of Onondaga County (the number is 315-424-1800 and website is https://ccoc.us/) since they sometimes have emergency funds.
If the car is close to repossession, it’s also worth calling the lender directly and asking for help as sometimes they’ll pause payments or work out some type of plan it if they know you’re actively trying to resolve it.

My husband and I, like so many around us in Syracuse, have fallen on very hard times but at least we can watch the Orangemen and women sports!. My husband, Marvin, lost his job in March, but they will not give a clear answer as to why.
I lost my job this last May 14th, and we are severely behind on all of our utilities and our car payment and need food.
We cannot afford to lose our car because that's how my husband is getting around to his job interviews.
I am in the process of filing for disability due to a multitude of medical diagnoses.
We are three months behind on the car payment, and they are threatening to repossess it. We are also three months behind on all of our utilities, including gas, phone, and electric. I'm at my wits' end because I don't know how we're going to pay for next month's rent or even shop for food, which is $1,982.
When we first moved in here from Geneva NY as we thought Syracuse had better jobs, we were both making good money and could afford this place, but now we're struggling worse than we ever have.
Please, I don't know if you can help in any way, but it would be most greatly appreciated if you could.
