Hi Jennifer
That County (Macon) is tiny. Like 1300 people is total population. So we doubt you can find help but try this for county and local housing and rental resources in Macon County.

Or try this for statewide resources for rent assistance https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... essee.html

My landlord hasn't taken us to court and even though we have a lease she has told us we have 30 days to vacate. Upon trying to make arrangements to pay the back rent we were advised she had rented the house to someone else which I didn't think she could do when she had a lease with us. The only thing I have received with a time frame to be out is from a text her son sent me back on January 31st saying under Tennessee State Law I have 30 days to vacate the property and that the text was to serve as a eviction notice and that if i wasn't gone within 30 days law enforcement would be involved and i would receive a written notice next week which I did and it was just a typed letter with no date as to when I needed to be moved and only that court proceedings would start straight away if I didn't pay the $1640.00 in back rent which they refused to make payment arrangements with me on.
I tried to make these arrangements within the 14 day time allotment I have to make the situation ok before they can evict me and they refused the arrangements I offered. We have no money to move as i lost my full time job due to being sick and have been working a part time job caretaking but the woman has since gone into hospice care and no more hours are available to me and my boyfriend has been out of work due to weather as he works construction so this eviction has put us in quite a bind. I have applied for unemployment until I can find a job and hopefully the weather will give way so my boyfriend can get back to full time work but until then we are in a financial hardship. My income tax check was going to be our plan out to move but 1788.00 was taken from my income tax check for child support that hasn't been enforced in 10 years for a closed case that shows zero behind and zero late and this was just taken with no knowledge of it being taken by the TPO from the child support office therefore leaving us without a dime to move and less than a week to get out. So that being said, can our landlord force us out or does she have to take us to court and wouldn't it be better if she didn't have to take us to court? If she has a lease with us does she have to make payment arrangements with me or can she refuse? Can she make a rental agreement with someone else while she hasn't terminated the one with me? Can you recommend a local agency that can help me with finding a place or upon finding a place is there an agency in Macon County Tn that can help me with the moving costs and security deposit and first month's rent? I have spoken with UCHRA and I am on a waiting list with them for financial assistance for rent but if I have to move do they have programs to help with that as well and from what I understand it will be the middle of end of Match before funding comes through and I'm not sure I can be in the home that long so I am in dire need of emergency assistance. Can you please help me with answers to above questions and the names of local agencies who can help or refer me to someone who can? Thanks in advance for your time and attention to this matter.
