. Hi,
My name is Mindy. I’m looking for resources that might be available to obtain a free laptop. I've been on disability for 20 years and of course thankful, but I've climbed out from under my rock and starting to learn about the world today. From what I can tell that in today's world there are so many ways to make money and there is no excuse to not be able to find something to supplement my SSI income or even maybe become self-supporting again. It's just a matter of trying to find a laptop for people on SSI, finding the things of interest etc.
I realize every time I try that it's impossible to do all on the phone. I haven't worked on a laptop or PC for over fifteen years. Without one though I will never get anywhere. I always hear of grants for this type of thing to pay for a laptop, but not sure how to obtain them since my disability income is so low. I was directed here by one site.
Any information or help I could obtain would be so appreciated. Please respond with any resources available out there.
Can people on SSI get a free laptop?

Re: Can people on SSI get a free laptop?
Hi Mindy,
Generally speaking, yes. But of course they are not common. Generally speaking, SSI will qualify you for programs like Lifeline, which some companies will issue laptops/Chromebooks as part of it. But we also have other options too, such as free laptops from a non-profit.
