Hi Veronica,
That is great that you are looking for help, and try to do that for your mom and your family. Virginia Beach does have a number of assistance programs. Since you mention everything from eviction prevention to electric help, even food, try our main list here for financial help in Virginia Beach. There is also the LIHEAP / HEAP that you indicate too. https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... _prog.html

Hello, my name is Veronica. I am a mother of a 4 year old boy and am pregnant with another one that’s due in January. I live with my mom in Virginia Beach, Virginia and we have had a tough time lately.
We try to get out of the hole we are in and it just kept getting bigger and bigger. I had a babysitting job watching 5 kids but unfortunately I had to quit because of them having DCFS on them and then not paying me my last check of $215. My mom had worked as a crossing guard for Genoa but that was only when they needed her and the month of February I believe they didn’t need her, and she hadn’t worked at all that month, so the bills had got high.
She had to quit that job and found another at jewel, lasted for 2 months. We ran into the chief of police in the Virginia Beach library and he told her he was going to move her full time as a crossing guard in August. My mom quit jewel in May and at the time I was still working. Came around August they called my mom saying there must have been a misunderstanding that they didn’t need her as full time. We both are out of jobs both looking for jobs every day at the library. Our electricity and gas are turned off. The church here in Virginia Beach gave us $250 to help a little which $100 went to electric and $150 went to water because our bill is high on water as well.
We are such in a hole and I am scared we are going to be kicked out with our landlord (we rent a 2 bedroom house) because we are a little behind on him. We only paid $300 last month when the rent is $950. We had called what I thought was LIHEAP, but they said they don’t help people in need like us she was more of a counselor. She referred us to you guys hoping you can help! The winter time is slowly coming, and I don’t want her on the street or freezing in the house. I’ll have to go to my boyfriends because of my son.
