Hi my name is Michelle. I'm a newly single mom to my 4-year-old son doing everything I can to keep our home warm and stable. Every day, I search tirelessly for jobs, grants, and assistance, but funding is limited, and time is running out. I’m behind on multiple months of rent, facing a $600 utility bill, and relying on a wood stove to heat our home. My landlords have been incredibly patient, but I know I can’t expect that forever.
I’m not someone who gives up easily—I’ve applied for everything from LIHEAP to Section 8 in Chico CA, called 211 for resources, and pursued every option I can find. But right now, I need help. Any assistance toward rent, utilities, or even wood for heat would make a world of difference for my little family of two. My goal is to get back on my feet, not just survive but build a stable future for my son..

We have housing and rent programs listed for Butte County and Chico. But since you lost your job it may be more challenging....as an agency is more likely to help you pay for housing if you have a source of income. However there are rent assistance programs, and look here for rent assistance in Butte County.
