Hey Ken, Ask the hospital for charity care here and NHPB has info on medical debt relief
https://www.needhelppayingbills.com/htm ... _debt.html
Also try non-profit credit counseling in MN for help with the medical and rent too and that list is here

I live in Rochester, MN and was recently sent to the hospital thinking I was having a stroke. I had a couple of seizures and was prescribed medication to treat them. The hospital is trying to collect almost $2000 for treatment and debt collectors calling now. However, they restricted me for driving for 3 months. I’m a home inspector working for myself and can’t drive to do inspections. I need help with 1 month of rent and the medical debt which is $1850.00. I don’t know what to do. Please give me some advice. I am a veteran.
Thank you,
Ken

I need to see if there is help for people with medical bill debt. I stopped working to take in a foster baby brother of a kid I already had for 6 years for what was to be a short time. I wasn’t working and had no insurance at the time. I recently had to have an emergency full hysterectomy with complications. 6 weeks beds rest turn into 10 weeks. With the medical bills piling on I had multiple Bee stings that happened when I was outside on my porch. I called a local clinic and asked if they could treat it because they were closer and I couldn’t afford Err visit. I arrived at clinic waited over 40 mins to get an EpiPen. When Michael was called back, they didn’t have it, and I had passed out into Anaphylactic shock. I was taken by ambulance (another bill) then to Blount County Hospital Err. To be monitored since Fire department were first responders to clinic with EpiPen. I was there 2 1/2 hours to be watched and was charged over 2,000. I tried to file financial assistance at Blount Hospital but (Brenda) said I had to list my partner. Because we adopted 3 kids. I said I don’t get the money for kids’ adoption Danielle does. We can’t count that as financial income. I explain to her our bills are separated. My name only! It is on Mortgage, utility bills, car insurance. My partner Danielle does work but she can’t financially support me, and medical bills keep piling on me. I have had help from my mother with car payment and medical bills that went to collections. I’ve tried to reach out for assistance at the Hospital with Brenda, but I can’t get anywhere. My partner or my kids are not on my taxes either. I just reach out and wonder if there is any help or am I doing it all wrong.

There are ways to get help with medical debt, including settlement, relief programs and more. Maybe credit counseling would be a good place to start as would a hospital charity care program. Either way look here for
steps to settle medical debt.

				Hello,
My name is Deb. I am a graduate student at OU, seeking my masters' degree in social work. I work full time at Griffin Memorial Hospital as a case manager and now, a hospital worker, needs relief of my medical debt from illness.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy treatments. In 2019, I checked myself into a psych ward to streamline my medications in a safe space. In 2021, I had another cancer scare, and had some lymph nodes removed in my neck. I pay 6 different medical bills monthly, most are in collections, and I was contacted this morning about another bill.
I am literally doing everything I can to survive, and every day I help link people with resources to help them with their life stressors and insurmountable barriers. Now, I need help or medical debt relief. As hard as I try to get ahead, there's always a new medical bill to take care of, and gas prices are rising, and I just found out I owe the IRS $3,400, and on and on it goes!
My credit report is destroyed, and I drive a 2016 Volkswagon; I am interviewing for a better job that would require more travel and will need a better vehicle. I am unable to get a new vehicle because of my poor credit, and I don't have the ability to afford a monthly car payment and insurance, due to the amount of medical debt I pay monthly (just under $500).
I'm not even going to mention student loan debt, but basically.... I am working to earn my way towards better circumstances, but am financially at risk of losing everything. I need help with the medical debt and other bills and some form of relief. I know my circumstances aren't 'dire' like the people I serve, but my past is just as checkered and I'm a whole comeback story myself. I'm further along in the process, but I feel just as vulnerable and without help or options.
