Hey,
That is an incredibly tough spot to be in. Since her current lawyer isn't helping, I'd highly recommend getting a quick second opinion from a different bankruptcy attorney. Sometimes a new lawyer can ask the court to change her plan or give her more time to deal with that October deadline.
Another good option is to get a free HUD housing counselor on the phone (you can find one at
https://www.hud.gov/). They specialize in helping seniors save their homes and might know of specific state programs that can help block a foreclosure.

To whom this may concern,
I'm trying to help my 68-yr old mother who is in active bankruptcy.
She needs 50,000.00 to pay a balloon payment due in October 2026.
Her bankruptcy attorneys aren't willing to renegotiate the terms, so our family is at a loss.
Reverse mortgage is not an option, and so far, no banks or hard lenders have been able to help.
If there is any information you could provide to make the balloon mortgage payment (other than credit counseling) it would be most appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

My name is Kimberly. I have a four-year-old daughter, Aliyah, and a husband, David. We are currently staying with a friend due to our home damage but it had a balloon mortgage a we borrowed so much. We’ve been trying to get help with anything we can.
My car and house was flooded, and FEMA said I was ineligible. I’m trying to appeal it and maybe I didn’t state my situation correctly. The Red Cross and my bank has yet to get back to me. We lost our home in a fire, then stayed in a motel, paying by the day, trying to keep up. After the storm, we lost our car with the home damaged, and we didn’t have the money to keep paying for the motel.
The belongings we had left were ruined by the water that entered my car. We are now in need of help with clothes and hygiene items. We have very little left. I’ve been trying everywhere I can to get help.
If you can help me, please email me back. Thank you, and God bless..

Good evening,
I just got off the phone with Natalie, a supervisor at SCDEW. Sent of me to contact you with help on my mortgage balloon payment. I have had a claim in since August due to covid-19. I have been told by SCDEW my employer was never notified and that is the delay several months later for my lack of payment. With Christmas next week I could really use some help. They have escalated my claim and hope I will receive payment soon, which I can put towards the balloon payment for the home loan. I have two children, a single mom and am a student at Trident University with a 4.0 this semester which is just wrapping up. I exhausted all my savings being out for two weeks in August and have been playing catch up ever since.
Please find attached my mortgage statement, current semester grades and any income info.

The mortgage loan on my home has been up since 2013. I was only able to purchase it with a cosigner, who is not able to resign. We purchased it on a 5 year loan with a balloon payment. The bank it is through has been gracious enough to keep extending it. I have always made my payment for my mortgage, but have not been able to always keep my other bills up to date. My credit score is really low, but we want to be able to stay in our home. Is there any programs that can help?
