Hello. My name is Joann. My husband is epileptic and on disability SSI. He is 45 years old and was declared permanently disabled in 2015. He has been receiving SSI benefits since 2017. He has epilepsy and his seizures are intractable which lands him in the hospital on nearly a daily basis.
With hospital visits come the bills that have accumulated to nearly $100K. We are on a very limited income and the bills keep piling higher to a point they are out of control. We desperately need help and I'm afraid of him filing for bankruptcy. His credit when he was diagnosed as an epileptic went down the drains, along with his father as a DPOA have been affected. The bills need to be attended to or their credit ratings will continue down a spiral path. We cannot consider consolidation because it just adds to the deep debt. What options can we obtain here? Please advise.
