I'm a single mom to my six month old son and I'm struggling to make ends meet since the company I have worked for for the past four years decided to make drastic pay cuts instead of lay offs. I live in virginia beach va and need help. I'm severely behind on this bill and they are threatening to shut my power off due to nonpayment any day. I've never been in this predicament and don't know where to turn especially with an infant. Does anyone have advice for me? I've left a message with the local salvation army and have not got a call back yet....

What state do you live in? In the meatime, also try a community action agency. They often have programs.
