Yeah, rich people have Amex cards. So why should they offer you all help. Probably bought all your fancy stuff and used your cards to travel and what not, as we normal people struggle to even get gas. Best of luck begging for help from Amex

It felt like they weren’t as willing to work with me, possibly because of my credit history.

I spoke with an AMEX rep about hardship assistance, and they told me they could lower my monthly payment and put me on a plan with 0% interest for 6 months, then 9.99% for the next 6 months. They made it sound like this is the only hardship program they offer, and there weren’t any other options available.

I had always made my payments on time for years, but recently started struggling due to job issues. I called AMEX to ask about hardship programs. They initially wanted me to keep paying my usual $580/month, but dropped the interest rate to 0%, so everything went toward the balance. After pushing a bit more, they explained their standard program: 6 months at 0% interest, followed by 6 months at 9.99%. After that, everything goes back to normal. They also told me I wouldn’t be eligible for more help for at least a year.

I had a business AMEX account with about a $30,000 balance and was paying roughly $400/month in interest alone. My spouse got sick and had to stop working, so I contacted AMEX to see if they could help. They offered a short-term hardship plan for 6 months with a reduced interest rate, and said they would review my account again at the end of that period.

I had around $10,000 on my AMEX card and missed a payment by about 30 days. I called them to see what my options were. They ended up putting me on a 12-month hardship plan. For the first 6 months, the interest rate was 0%, and then it went up to 9.99% for the remaining 6 months. My monthly payment was reduced to a little over $150, which helped a lot.

I had about a $2,000 balance on my AMEX card and reached out to ask about hardship options. Someone from their hardship department called me back the next day and asked for details about my finances. After I gave them the info, they offered me a 6-month hardship program. The interest rate was reduced to 9.99% and my payment dropped to $50/month. They also mentioned I might qualify for more help after the 6 months, depending on my situation.

I also need help with paying my Amex bill and would greatly appreciate that.
I am a 74 year old disabled female who was a CEO 5 years ago now have no means of transportation since my car drew it's last breath months ago. I cannot make it to a food bank or pantry and hope that someone could bring me a small amount of food. I got my Amex 15 years ago when making six figures now I am begging for help. A rich to poor story not rags to riches. How do I get the hardship options when have gone from well off to begging like me?
I wouldn't want to take from the mouths of anyone else needing help.
If you can help or assist me, please contact me.

There is an American Express hardship program that you can try. We have information on how to apply on the site, including phone number, how much it may save you, information on the reductions in your bills, and more.
