Need a grant for medical bills

Hi,

My name is Terry. I was diagnosis with breast cancer in 2002. A family
member was helping me pay for my medical bills up in till a year ago. He
can no longer help me because he is running out on money. My parents
help when they can, but it is draining my whole family. I have a
full-time job with insurance, but still need help. I get a percentage
deduction on my hospital bills, charity help on the lab bills and pay a
small amount for my medications. I refinanced my house, which added on a
few thousand of dollars.

I am single with no children and three cats. I don't spend very much
money only on things I need. I tried to see if I could sign up for some
government grants but, they want you to buy the information on how to get
help. I can't afford to lose money on these kind of programs. My
question is, do you know how I might could get a grant to help with my
medical bills and which on-line surveys pay cash (mail checks to my home)
where there is no fee to sign up? What would be the best ways to get
help without cost?

Thank you so much for your time.

Medical debt is tough to pay off. You may be able to settle it, or come to a payment plan with your hospital. Here is a resorce for many charities and ways to get free medical services. Also, from this link, try the get help with debt link on the left margin.

I was laid off three months ago. My husband is self employed and business has slowed down for him drastically. We live in Anchorage Alaska and I have major medical issues as well. Between my unemployment and husbands income I was told that I don't even qualify for Medicaid by a $50.00 difference in our income. I had to cancel a lot of my scheduled procedures and live in pain every day not know how bad my condition is getting. That’s not my main problem though. I was a manager making great money and since I have been laid off we are now three months behind on most bills and are being faced with disconnects and it’s almost the first and we don't have anything to put towards our rent. Because we live in Alaska rent is very high, we have to pay $1,800.00 a month for the house we do rent and that is the lowest we could find. If there is anything that can help us please let me know. I have been actively looking for a job and have not found one yet. Thank You.

I Need some money fast. Medical bills have climbed to high in comparison to our income. We do GE pensions and SS ($35,000). Medical bills are climbing at a larger rate per income. These next 2 weeks we are trying to buy some groceries-paper products and others. Our checking is empty, so when we write a check we pay an extra $35.00 on these checks. The grocery store won’t accept our check. We can't get gas to even go to doctors oR get prescriptions until our checks come in.
Most of this will go to paying back the bank. Because of our medical problems we have many medical bills every day, and will continue to have. Need money now to hold us over. I maybe could get a part time job. T do have a start of Parkinson disease plus other problems. My wife can't work with all of her problems. Where can we more permanent help also? We could use some kind of help.

The solution to medical bills is of course not very easy. Costs are exploding, and may people need support. While we do not think that a so called "grant" exists (at least what people thin of that being) you can ask for advice. Companies and specialists from Patient Services and many other non-profits can guide you to programs. The fact you have a pension is much better than most. But maybe Patient Services can direct you to programs for Parkinson patients and other types of solutions. So try them, and read more Patient Services.
