I need help with Electricity

Post by embee »

I am an unemployed 61 year old female living in Stockbridge, Georgia. On May 1, 2012 my electricity was turned off. This summer was horrendous as you can probably imagine in Georgia! Now it is cold and very dark very early in the evening which makes me feel very isolated sometimes. In September of this year, I finally found a church that would pay to have my last account (in my father's name - now deceased) paid off and a new account created. At least that is what they promised me. Also they were going to send me some job resources. They paid off my dad's account. That is all. I have tried numerous agencies, charities, and churches. That was the closest I have gotten to getting help. Every place else either has exhausted their funds, don't answer the phone, say they will call back but don't, or I get the message that the voice mailbox is full. Where else can I go to get help? This has been going on for 7 months on December 1! I really want some light and be able to cook a hot meal!

We have information on direct financial assistance from utility companies as well as more local non-profits in your county you can try. For the utility companies programs, try this.

Midway down the page are financial assistance programs by county in Georgia, so select yours. Towards the top of the page from the link are assistance programs that operate across the entire state.
