Good morning,
My name is Jannine and I just happened to come across this site that mentioned assistance with different needs for elderly or disabled or low income. I did use loans in the past but they did not help me with my bills.
I am disabled and currently live in Florida. Temple Terrace. My air conditioning unit blew out and myself and my son who is autistic have been trying to make do with fans, which have not been too successful. We are originally from Pennsylvania and are not used to the Florida heat and didn't realize fans aren't enough.
We both have been suffering from heat exhaustion. I receive SSDI as the only income in the home with no child support or support from state assistance with the exception of medical for my son. This is why the loans I borrowed are done, as I can't pay the money back that I used for my bills.
I want to know if there are any grants or any assistance that I am possibly eligible for for a new AC unit. The guy that came out to look at it said that the whole thing needed to be replaced as it was old. I don't have thousands of dollars stored away for this and I don't have any ability to take out huge loans as I am on a fixed income.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

if you have taken out multiple loans, then maybe try free credit counseling in Virginia. There are offices in Norfolk VA as well. But jobs should be easier to find than needing 75 applications to do.

Dear Help Paying Bills,
The last several months have been the most difficult of my life. I took a temporary leave from my last job because the stress exacerbated my Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I tool out a bunch of loans to make it by. Then I was out on SDI for almost a year and really not ready to go back to work, but my family is on the East Coast and doesn't understand the challenges I deal with daily. So, I began looking for work ASAP and was rather amazed that I couldn't get a job in my field or a comparative one.
So then I started applying with Target, Goodwill, CVS, Rite Aid -- any place that I thought would be happy to have a college educated professional woman on their staff. My Father helped me out for 3 months with rent and utilities, but with maybe only $20.00 left over. I began washing my clothes in the bathtub and using dish detergent to wash my hair. It felt very difficult to keep going under those kinds of pressure, but I have a great Psychiatrist, Therapist, support groups, a couple of really close girlfriends and a cat that has kept me from thinking of suicide - much less acting on it.
At the beginning of August my Father told me he would no longer help me out financially and the same went for my 3 brothers. He will not even loan me money. I still don't have a job, but I had a very positive interview, yesterday. I can feel that things are going to change for the better. I can't pay this month's rent and have no one to ask for help. Also 2 weeks will probably mean I won't make enough for next month, either.
I love my apartment, it is centrally located which is important for me since I can't afford a car. I have 2 roommates but we all pay our rents individually to the landlord and management company. I have lived here for almost 3 years and have checked around for something cheaper but have not found anything.
While I was looking for help your suggestion about writing for web sites and quote, “In addition, we at needhelppayingbills are looking for contributors and will pay for articles. Please email us at [email protected]. We would like to see a sample article in advance as well." Made an impact on me. I know I communicate well in writing and have been thinking of doing something on the side as a blogger, web writer, editor or proofreader. I was sure how to go about it so the first thing I did was sign up for this free - but really educational college course, "Writing for the Web." If you would like an example of my writing maybe my beginner's Web Press account would be enough to give you an idea of whether or not I could fit the bill for this program. I can also send you copies of all the places I've applied for to show my seriousness in getting a job. My employment specialist requires me to track the applications for later follow-up.
Please, please help me; or connect me with an organization who is able. I do not want to end up back in a hospital because I had a breakdown. I'm really proud that I am staying this stable through the immense pressure and as I said earlier this is very temporary for me this month and maybe next. I know I will have a decent job to pay my bills by sometime in late September or early October.

I have fallen on hard times. I have tried to balance my debts the best that I can but they have finally caught up to me. I do not have the money to pay my mortgage, I am months behind and facing foreclosure. I am behind on my car note and facing repo. My student loan is behind. I have credit card debt. My credit score has dropped by 200 points.
I take care of my elderly father as well. His health is declining so I have had to miss weeks of work. I see that there is tons of assistance for the low and very low income individual, but what about those who make a little more then what you consider low income. I need help before we are both out on the streets. Is there any real assistance out there for me? Will someone help us please?

I have utility needs, a loan against my car, borrowed money. I have been out of work and a single parent of one. I have credit card debt, no banking account it is closed and in the negative. My teeth need root canals or pulled and dentures. I can go on and on unfortunately. I have never been like this in my life and will have no electric by tomorrow. I don't know who or what to do, I didn't know the DES would help with. People tell me after its overdue that I should have called this place or that. They work the system. I don't. I am unsure of what all information you want here. Thank you for your time.
