We can't provide direct help, however we can refer you to agencies in Linn County. Maybe they will also have suggestions on the car repairs you need too.
Some agencies may offer car repairs if you need it for work and if you do have a job. Here are some places to call in Oregon for rent, energy assistance, and maybe the car assistance too. They may also have special programs for single moms. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... ogram.html

There are several different charities, non-profits, and churches that can help with car repairs. However they tend to be regional and have very limited funding and resources. It is recommend to call a local church. Maybe they will have a few dollars, or know of a local garage that will work on your car. Regardless there is no harm in asking. Find more car repair programs.

Hi,

I'm looking for resources I can contact for help in Everett, Washington. I need car repair assistance to get to work. I'm receiving SSI and there’s applying for DVR but there's a wait. As well they didn't think they could help with my bald tires. I'm pregnant and need to work part time to survive the times. I'm not in TANF so DSHS only helps those who are and since I'm on SSI I'm not sure how someone in my case can get help? Please email me any resources. Thank you,

I am a 66 year old man and I work part time delivering the mail, and I draw social security, so I do not have a lot of money. A few days ago my transmission went out on my car and it is probably going to cost me a thousand dollars or more to fix? And since I am a rural carrier, I have to furnish my own car, and if I do not have a car to carry the mail I will lose my job? Can you help me??

I always suggest to people that need car repairs, try calling your local high schools, vocational high schools, and automotive vocational schools. I don't know where they get their cars to work on, but it's worth a try. I remember in my high school days that the automotive repair shop class, had cars from somewhere to work on.

We always say that auto repairs are hard to get. Not too many charities or non-profits will provide for them. If you are willing to make payments on your car repairs in Spokane then maybe take out a low interest rate loan to pay it off. Also try calling these agencies and non-profits for advice.

I have heard of schools that offer auto/shop repair, sometimes will take cars to work on, so the students can get expierence. Try some area high schools in your area to see what kind of situations they gain in doing this. Because the students after all have to get the cars from somewhere to work on.

Thank you for your reply. As for the phone number 277-6790 to call and ask if there is possibly an organization to help was unsuccessful also. Every time I call I get a recorded message telling me the call can not go through at this time, and to try again later. Well I try over and over again and still get the same response. So I don't know if the number has been disconnected or if the office is closed due to state funding or what. Therefore I haven't any idea who to call now or what to do. But thank you so much for your help I sure do appreciate it.

Car repairs are rare to get help with. Not many places offer assistance, if any. Funding is also very limited. Churches, Salvation Army, and similar places are good to call, which sounds like you have already done. Also find some information on other car repair possibilities.

As far as a listing of non-profits and charities in your area, find extensive details on St. Clair financial assistance programs. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/st_ ... e_pr1.html We have charities, non-profits, community action agencies and many other places to call.

Now that my car is broken down it seems that my friends(so I thought)and relatives refuse to answer my calls or return messages when I need help going to the doctor etc. Or they have one excuse after another not to help me out when I need to go to the doctor, picking up my medication etc. It's sad but true. Many local charities including churches are having a difficult financial problems during this time, therefor asking for help is difficult. Can anyone help me please with information.

No really. Not government programs for car repairs. Otherwise everyone would use them! What you can do is call local charities for funds for car repairs, some may offer transportation to jobs or doctor appointments, and other transportation type assistance. Try your church, the Salvation Army, and other non-profit and charity type organizations for this transportation services. Find a listing of non-profits and charities here.

I was laid off of my job about two months ago due company downsizing. I would really appreciate any info or assistance for our family. I seen you have several auto repair assistance programs in cities surrounding me. I am not sure if I would have to live in that specific city or county for the assistance with the auto repair. Please help us.

Some places for car repairs in Kansas may be your local church, Salvation Army, or community action agency. Phone numbers for various local non-profits in Kansas can be found here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/kan ... grams.html Select your exact county or city from the list. Also consider programs and non-profits like Ways to Work or 1800 charity cars as additional options. Yes, it can be a vicious circle as a car is needed for work.
