Well, your son needs to pay the debt back. Or did you cosign on the card? If you did not cosign then you are not responsible. What you son can do as well is look into a Chase hardship program as many issues will wive fees, lower rates, and basically negotiate a customers credit card debts and bills. They are willing to work with customers in order to get some money or payments.

If the credit card is in your son's name only, then you should not be responsible for his debt. If this was a card that you gave him as authorized user then yes, you are responsible. Credit card companies have up to 3 years to sue you and get a judgement for you to pay. But if you know that you are not going to need to apply for credit for 7 years, say buying a house, or car loan, the thing to do is file for bankruptcy, this will discharge the debt on credit card. Also, don't let the credit companies tell you to consildate your debt into a loan, then this will be a secured loan of which you can't get dismissed in bankruptcy. Also, credit card companies in that three year window, will only sue if you have a job, as unemployment cannot be touched by them. Anything else you need to know, just ask. I just found this site, and I can't believe how far back I've been reading that no responses have been given to some people.

How did you default on your credit cards. Is it too late, or are you still in contact with the banks and lenders. As the reason being is that most credit card companies offer extensive assistance programs, including hardship, negotiation, modifications, and much more. A full listing of various ways to get credit card help can be read. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/cre ... _help.html

We almost always recommend first exploring programs that are offered directly by credit card companies for help first. A comprehensive listing is here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/cre ... _help.html
Find how to get credit card and debt assistance from Bank of America, Citi, Capitol One, and all other companies. They range from debt reduction, to mediation and hardship programs. If those don't work, then contact a credit counselor for advice.

Its to the point right now where i have credit card debt, and all the bills are starting to get paid on the payday after they're due, I'm also in school the financial aid helps a little but it was mostly used for school and didn't last long after tuition and fees came out. Well, we can provide you information to try to help you and your son, but ultimately it comes down to you. We can provide all the information on debt reduction, bill paying programs, etc. that exist. So sounds like your medical bills are hurting you, so find ways to consolidate medical debts. There are solutions like medical debt consolidation program, which can in fact reduce the amount you owe by up to 50%. After taking care of those debts look into other money saving tips on the site.

Hi Rhondatap. i normally send an email, but I don't see one linked to your post. so will just type here:

I empathize with your situation with bills/debts. We have a longer-term program (not immediate help) to aid persons in paying their bills. Certainly paying bills is a Lifelong task, because "there's always something!" Ours is a program that recognizes this "ever-present dilemma" and helps tp counterbalance it's effects over time. You become involved with us at only $10.00 per month and we in turn potentially may be able to pay some or all of your bills. Our ability to pay bills in total is dependent on persons like us and you who become involved and then tell others (as many as we can) about this program, asking that they also sign up at $10.00 a month. When they do so, then we begin them on the same program you’d be in. The details can be read about or "discovered" at our website: WindowsOfHeaven777.com

Rhondatap, please visit us as soon as you can and consider starting with us, then be sure to forward this email to your friends and family, as well as hit the "Like" button and other social networking buttons on our website to share even faster what you’ve found. You may contact us by email at: [email protected] if you choose.

God Bless you in your situation, Rhondatap, and we ask God for that blessing in your Life soon.

Hello Rhonda. Bless your heart. Many people can just change your situation specifics over to their own situation specifics and always the answers are pretty similar. As you grieve, we grieve. As your situation improves, our situation improves. Relationships can always be win-win when put into the correct context.

A common form of reference for people experiencing similar circumstances, such as grief, credit bills, confusion, depression, and all other things human, is returning to and relying upon tha highest power. We already see that govenments and organizations, while helpful as much as they are possible, cannot and do not always "come through for us" on a timely basis. However, many of those who have returned to and relied upon the highest power for resolution of troubles, have found same very satisfying in rendering help.

Rhonda, whatever your perspective on things spiritual - and this post is written from the Christian perspective - regain contact with your highest power and things more than likely will resolve favorably. My very best regards to you in sincerity. Let me know how I might help.

While I agree there are not government programs for credit card bills and debts, most credit card companies (like Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo) offer a variety of hardship programs, settlement, and consolidation offers. Not to mention non-profit credit counseling agencies. A listing of programs for credit card help is available, and learn about each card issuer.

Seven credit cards are way to many. You need to get that number down. Look into a credit card hardship program. If you reduce your debts and credit card expenses, and therefore monthly interest, that will help you get back on track with the other bills and expenses you have, like that truck payment.

Once someone falls behind on credit card debts it does get hard to stay ahead. But the good news is that many card companies are willing to work with consumers. They may offer hardship programs, debt management plans, settlement, and other financial hardship type programs. They would rather have someone pay some money vs go bankrupt.

So is your 10,000 in credit card debt and bills with Bank of America? if so, here is a listing of programs that can assist you, and help you pay it off. I can't offer help and allow you to pay it off, but BOA does offer assistance for its customers. Programs like debt management, consolidation, and modifications. At the end of the day you do have many options available to you to help with getting out of those credit card debts.

Well most of the programs are national, and not really specific to an area or county such as Sacramento. Student loans you can look into forgiveness, waiving or reducing interest rates, or get a job with a government agency which may reduce or eliminate your loans. On the other hand, for you credit card debts, try working directly with the credit card company, or you can always try a professional, such as a credit counseling or debt settlement program. Here is more information on numerous credit card help and assistance programs. Poke around the site to find information and resources.
