I’m thirty one years old. I’m on the right path of raising my four year old son. I’m a full time assistant at Wal Mart and I have a job. But unfortunately my son and I don’t have a stable home.
We've moved back and forth between friends and family since his birth. I no longer have anywhere to go. I’m asking for assistance in getting a low income apartment in Mabketon Georgia or a section 8 voucher. I have means to pay but I cant afford the security deposit or even know where to move where I can afford the rent alone. I hate having to move every few months with my son and now we've ran out of places to go. Please help me so I can help myself.

I can’t seem to find a job anywhere and when I do find one I end up getting fired because I can’t perform. And that’s because I’m in very bad health from the injuries I suffered in a steel plant I used to work at.
A short while ago I started to go to a doctor hoping he can treat my excruciating chronic pains so I can get back to working fine and stand on my own 2 feet. But, he’s not really taking me seriously and mainly focuses on my blood pressure, asthma, and sleep apnea.
Can you please help me, my mom, and my sister? They are supposed to be on HUD Housing assistance but they have to pay full rent now, probably because I have to stay with them now.
But, I have absolutely Nowhere to go.
Please, if you can’t help me can you help them so I’m not too much of a burden on them?
ANYTHING?
Thank You for your time!

Many of the government programs have been cut back recently, including section 8 HUD vouchers. As difficult as it may be to say, over the long term housing, unemployment and other benefits will be reduced. This is mostly happening do to budget issues. However Louisiana still does have HUD vouchers, so not sure what would explain your issue in Baton Rouge. Did you try a public housing agency? We have extensive information on there here.

I am currently homeless, and I am almost 5 months pregnant. I have not been sleeping on the street, but staying at family or friends' houses. I cannot stay at these places permanently because they are overcrowded and are not able to let me stay there with a child. I am getting nervous as I get further into my pregnancy, because I want my baby and myself to have a stable, safe, permanent home, and I don’t want my baby to be taken away by Social services because I don’t have stable housing. I attempted to apply for section 8 but the list is closed. I have contacted other places too that provide housing assistance, but I have not had any luck as of yet. I also am struggling with food right now. I do not have food stamp benefits and I have been struggling. I am working on getting them but its taking time. I am having a complicated pregnancy, so I am unable to work. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am of section 8 already and I lost my job 6/25/13. Section 8 says my rent won't change until 12/1/13. I have already received my one time help from DHS with my deposit. I have applied for and been approved for unemployment. I haven't receive it and was told I will only get one week worth on my 1st check. My landlord is not willing to work with me and will not accept a partial payment. She said she will serve me with a 10 day notice to vacate. I'm a single mom of 3 kids and I'm desperate for help. Can you please help me in anyway. I don't have any family here and don't want to lose me section 8. Please help me in any way you can. Thank you

I am renting an apartment for $400 a month. I have faithfully paid rent for 5 years and never have missed payments until now. I am retired but have been working full-time as a home health night caregiver. I was laid off in December 2012 due to agency's lack of clients. I have been unable to find any full-time work since--just a little here and there. I would be eligible for Section 8 and I believe my landlord would perhaps being amenable to being a Section 8 landlord. Maybe not but he is flexible because I have been a good renter in every way.

I’m behind on my rent and on my utility bill I am looking for a little help so that me and my kids don't become homeless. I don't know where to go for help any information will be greatly appreciated. I am on the section 8 + housing list.

I received my section 8 vouchers, but I was trying to stay in the apartment that I already reside in but they weren't willing to extend my voucher until December 6 in which I would turn 55. Not able to continue staying in where I already live had to look for an apartment somewhere else. I found a place but it’s going to cost me $625.00 deposit just to move in and if the paper work doesn’t get in on a certain time I would have to come up with the 765 plus the 625 deposit. My income is only 849 a month. I don't want to lose my section 8 because it will help me out in the years to come. Currently I'm staying in a disabled apartment and I only pay 724 a month, but as you can see I barely have money to pay my bills and eat. Please only ask for the deposit on the apartment that I'm trying to rent or whatever it is that you can do for me, thanks and GOD bless.

I found your email on a Government web site, I'll be 61 tomorrow, I'm disabled and blind, need of help to pay my over due Electric bill & gas bill. Also my lease it up end of September so I have to move. I applied for section 8 on Feb 5th 2012 and was told I would be contacted since I was disabled and considered elderly. I would be put higher on the list, but so far nothing. I'm looking now to Rent a place ( preferably ) a house in Riverside County area. I will be homeless at the end of September if I don't get help. Its hard for me to speak as well, if you do receive this message ( it's now Aug's 1st, 2012 ). I'll do my best to talk on the phone.

I am a single mom of two. I aim without transportation and my health is poor and i have been unable to work. i do receive hud rental assistance which has always covered my entire rent of 550.00. Recently our local HUD office in Cincinnati changed its entire staff, changing and even creating new policies all together in the program. Thus being said i am now responsible for 228 of the total 550 monthly rent.. I have not been able to make the payments as recently expected, falling now 3 and approaching 4 months delinquent. As of now i am behind 684.00 and soon to be another 228.00 added to that is their any help that i might qualify for?

I need a 2nd chance. I really made the mistake of letting the father of my 2 youngest children move in while I was on housing. I currently get section 8 vouchers here in Bakersfield CA. I tried adding him on the lease, he was denied cause of his background. He committed a crime that was over 10 years ago. We been separated for almost a year, he now lives with another young girl & i am struggling a little bit & am begging for a second chance please I really hope to hear from someone asap. God bless.

Section 8 housing is offered in New York, so look into that before becoming homeless. Why can't the wife work? I am not sure how anyone can get by one one salary of a few hundred per week with 5 kids and a wife who doesn't work. So pass along this contact for section 8 housing vouchers and general housing advice.

Unfortunately sometimes there are waiting lists, but your friend can still call the agencies in question.

Would you be able to advise of additional services and contacts which this family may be able to use. I am afraid that they will be homeless shortly or else will need to move in with me if they are unable to get the help they need. Unfortunately, I do not have the means or space to support a family of so many. I would be grateful for your advise. Many thanks and best regards.

Well there are a number of section 8 HUD agencies in California. So if you had a bad experience with one manager from one company, just call another and apply. $695 is expensive, but rent in California is not cheap, especially Modesto and Los Angeles. So try this for other
California section 8 housing programs, and call a different PHA that administer the service.

I am in a different apartment now that accepts rental programs for low income. Im paying 695.00 a month right now and am only receiving 854.00 a month from ssi. I dont have enough money left for food and all my other expenses. Im now getting in debt by getting small loans to cover my bills. I need help a.s.a.p. please help

We do not know. You will need to address this with the agency, or possibly contact a lawyer for free legal advice and aid. Other HUD section 8 agencies in your state of Indiana are listed here, so call around to different locations for advice, applications, and to review that situation.
