Disabled mortgage assistance

Post by Lorker »

Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a friend named Joyce who has asked me to look for solutions to a serious issue which she is facing. She is going back to the inpatient unit at Cape Cod Hospital. She suffers from mental illness but is very driven to succeed. Now classified as disabled. She managed to buy a condo in September, but then lost her job in September and is afraid of losing her condo and of not being able to pay her mortgage or bills. She needs some type of program to keep her on track with mortgage payments and not foreclosure. Please call her to reassure her in any way you can. Thank you in advance for your prompt reply and assistance. Sincerely

Did you ever hear about mortgage / foreclosure medication? It is basically when a homeowner, who can be your friend, sits down and goes over their situation with their lender. Together you can explore options like modifications, forbearance, and more. Most states now offer mediation type programs, including the Cape Cod area. They will help you get back on track with your mortgage, and hopefully stop a foreclosure. Many of the mediation programs are listed here.

What state, as Fannie Mae does have several centers around the nation that can provide free counseling, loan modifications, and foreclosure prevention advice and services. In the meantime, find a ton of mortgage and foreclosure relief programs here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/hel ... tgage.html
Many options from the federal government, your state, non-profits, and charities can help really anyone pay their home loan and get back on track with their mortgage payments. I think some even support veterans and military personnel. You did ask for help early enough before your July auction, which is great, as most people don't. Just keep calling agencies and looking into programs.

I am disabled and have not had much luck in finding any financial assistance. My SSD check was cut in October 2011 to cover my Medicare premium, so I am having a hard time keeping up with some of my bills. My husband left me with the house all the bills. I am currently working with Wells Fargo for loan modification (who is my first lender). I am six months behind with my second mortgage. I have swarm of medical bills, payday loan and an account with Publisher Clearing House. If you can find a charity or grant that can assistant me in paying off some of these bills, I will be most appreciated.

I am disabled and only receive $956.00 a month for ssdi. My husband is filing for disability due to heart and diabetic problems that are shutting down his body. He is only able to work 3 days a week and sometime less. When he is off it is a day of throwing up and hurting all over for him. Our mortgage is $750 a month and insurance is $ 145.00 a month. He has no insurance so he has to pay the doctor when he goes or go to hospital. But he has to pay full price for his prescriptions. After a stint of every other week being hospitalized we are broke. Our like bill this month is $600.00 and due to be cut off Friday. The electric company agreed to take 370.40 and finance the remainder for. Please help us.

There are some mortgage assistance programs for the disabled. Is your husband on any government insurance programs, or may be using the services of a community clinic? They are worth a try, we think. Maybe look into a loan modification program on the mortgage which can free up cash for your medications and health insurance.

To clarify, are you looking for foreclosure counseling or rent assistance, as the solution to each one of those is different. If it is mortgage and foreclosure help, then find these resources for Pennsylvania mortgage assistance. Look into programs like the REAL modifications and mediation, both of which are run across Pennsylvania. They can be very helpful solutions for income qualified individuals. Maybe you can get some funds from your disability to help too.

My husband, John, suffered a stroke several months ago and can no longer work. He receives a retirement payment of $727 each month which we pay the mortgage bill., however we are falling behind We are trying to make ends meet by living on my check, usually around $598 every two weeks. We got an extension on a couple of bills including our home loan, but JEA is going to shut off the power today. I tried to offer them $100 but they said that would not prevent cut-off. My husband and I both are handicapped and use medical equipment on a daily basis for which we need electricity. We live in Florida and it can get extremely hot with no air. Is there any way that we may be able to get financial assistance with utilities and mortgage? We are trying our best to stay above water!

Well, there are numerous mortgage programs in Florida, including those for people with a disability. After all Florida has been probably hit harder then any other state by the housing crisis, so the government and many non-profits operate in the region. We also have extensive information on utility programs on the main site. But when you look into programs like the foreclosure defense project, also ask the counselor about other financial aid for other bills and/or home loans. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... ure_d.html

Hello. I am in desperate need of help for a down payment for a home. I am on disability and the amount, although very thankful for it, is miniscule compared to what one would need to get a down payment for the mortgage. I cannot possibly conjure up enough to get a down. Is it possible to ask assistance for something as that for a one time gift?
I am desperate at this time. I recently had to move home with my parents due to a huge raise my landlord did out of spite and there isn't enough room for me here. Please get back with me as soon as you can for I am in need. Being sick, it's difficult to find anyone who is sympathetic and compassionate to take what you make from disability. Getting a trailer of my own would be ideal I just need the down payment help of about 5000-7,000 if possible. Thank you so much and God bless.

I am on SSDI, have no food and I am 3 months behind mortgage. I’ve applied to home safe plan that catches up your mortgage, but they say may be 12 weeks and I am $400 short this month and I’m scared to fall further behind cause Bank of America has told me already if I am consistently late, or behind only 2 months, they can and will start foreclosure on me. I have applied and turned down x 5 for home modification loan by them too. I am age 45, divorced, disabled due to brain injury, my IRA gone, IRS lien on my home too, no insurance, collections on all my bills, credit cards, doctors, not eligible for food stamps. Any help for me in Georgia, just anything, please advise.

About 30 years ago, my wife came to a halt at a stop sign, but the car behind her did not. Since that time, she has had over 10 knee surgeries, including 2 total knee replacements. She has been unable to work since.
In December, 2013 she first applied for Social Security Disability over two years ago. After two refusals, she has now been notified that a federal judge is reviewing her case and she will hopefully finally be getting her benefits soon. Her sister is 60 years old and in the final stages of terminal cancer. We moved her in with us a few months ago and we have become her hospice.
Over the past months, we have fallen further and further behind in our house payments. If we do not do something soon, we could lose our home, which we have owned for over 20 years. I am already on disability, and our income is limited. Surely, there should be a government program out there to help people like us so we do not lose our house. Any advice or help you can give us will be deeply appreciated.

Well, there is not one dedicated government program to help disabled homeowners with their mortgage, but rather you can try all of them that are available. It should be fairly obvious that if the government were to give special benefits to people with a disability, that in itself would be a form of "reverse" discrimination. But you can also try non-profits as well as other organizations for counseling and support. Here is an extensive listing of mortgage assistance programs for the disabled.
