Live in Jackson TN and need rent assistance

Post by Kent »

Hello,
My name is Chip, legally Joseph Cherry but I go by Chip. I am in the eviction process and getting evicted possibly this month. I have lived here in Jackson Tennessee since June of 2022 and never missed a rent payment. I was on auto pay with them(their payment systems are difficult but that is another matter) and had a credit of 45 dollars for several months. I cut off my auto pay in late January to pay where I could get my credit to be applied and in February missed that payment. Money has been temporarily very tight from November through February due to a number of things but I am making back more money now.
I was trying to pay my past due February payment this past week and they would not accept that payment and should have been able to straighten everything out by April 19th. I am definitely not arguing that I owe the rent but they are in the process of evicting me now and want $7,466.00 to stop that and I do not have that. That is February, March, and April rent plus fees of eviction and late fees totaling $1,511.00. The rent is $1,985 per month.
My address is Jackson, TN 38002.
Is there anyway I can get assistance mainly to stop the eviction process and fees and let me pay this back somehow?
Thank you for any help that can be given and have a terrific day. My contact number is below.

Hello,
I received this email from a social worker in Jackson Tennessee stating that you can help people that are out of work or sick with cancer pay some bills and rent Can you please tell me more about your program and how I can apply? I would truly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Abbey
