Credit card debt and payday loans

Post by Brig10 »

I have health insurance but have had 3 surgeries since 2009. I have dr, hosp and related bills from them. I have 2 personal loans to repay along with a recent car repossession. One payday loan is also due. I am on Social Security Disability, get part of my ex-husband's military retirement and work part-time. I am not supposed to work due to the nature of my disability but have no choice. I'm trying to refinance my house to a lower interest rate and would like to refinance my car (which has a high interest rate due to credit issues). The 2 credit cards I had have closed accounts and I arranged to pay monthly. I'm so stressed I can hardly function. I'd appreciate any advice or help you can give me.

So did you use a payday loan to pay for hospital bills? You should never do that. Only bag things can result. How about looking into payday loan consolidation? This is basically paying off your payday loans with one loan that is at a lower interest rate and that gives you more time to pay off the one loan. So that cycle does not occur and it is technically ended/broken. And refinancing car and loans is good, but get rid of those high interest payday loans first.

HI,
Just determined that Mother in Law has normal household bills, medication(already have Medicare program to cover most), medi-gap insurance, and credit card debt that brings her down to $104 a month for food and other necessities of life. Her 'invalid' brother who lives with her...so this is for both of them. This came to light when I happened into the bank to check my personal account and noticed hers had checks going into Overdraft Protection. Thankfully, we're blessed in having noticed at just the right time. HELP!! She is 75 years old, lives in Henrico, VA. We plan a family meeting Saturday night to discuss alternatives. Neither of her 2 children are in a financial situation to help. Your info/advice is appreciated.
Thank You

I'm struggling to make money meet. My ex fiance had lost his job and I took out payday and credit card advances for several months to pay rent. Now I've been left with the bills and can't even afford rent, car, food etc because I'm stuck in the circle of keeping up with getting advances to pay back another. I have recently moved to a room for rent to cheapen my expenses but to no avail. I'm drowning quickly and have tried just about every avenue to get out. I need help :( if I don't pay my roomate the rent I owe she is going to kick me out and of all times my car to brake down. It has now and don't even have that to stay in if last resort. Please help? Even just to send me in a direction of where to go and what to do now?? Thank you for your time.

It is payday loans and credit card debt and the interest that is making it difficult for you. You need to always get control of those expenses first. That then free up money to pay other bills, like rent, energy, etc. An extensive listing of ways to pay off those debts and loans, including paydays, is available. I have always though payday loan consolidation is an effective way. Basically the loans get all wrapped up into one new loan, with a lower interest rate.

I lost my job of 8 years last year. I have been receiving unemployment but I am now in debt. I have no credit and can't pay my rent or heating bill. I have tried payday loans too but that got me into trouble, and still trying to pay those off. I have actively looked for work but I've been unable to find anything. Please help. In desperate need,

Yes, you never want to use payday loans. Many people get into serious trouble with them, and they should only be used as a last resort, and not for paying items like heating bills. Maybe try a government program, and a short term loan from your bank instead. Maybe refinance your mortgage. Anyway, find information on various payday loan alternatives and look into all of these options first.

I am unemployed. I am a Vietnam era veteran. My unemployment claim is in review and could take up to 4 weeks to resolve. I need rent help utility bill help and food and financial help to pay car insurance, phone bill. I also have a payday loan that will default by October 2 2012. I don't like asking for help, but I desperately need help. Thank you.

I was wondering what options I may have. I currently have bills stacking up from the room I am renting at a house. I am in debt to my landlord because of the loss of my job (my car broke down and I was unable to find transportation back and forth to my job in Nashville). I also took out a payday loan for the car repairs. Is there anyone that can help me pay my rent? My lease ends on October 31st.

If you do have tons of bills, which seems like you due when you mention stacking up, then try a credit counseling agency in Tennessee. The non-profits can help deal with a number of debts, including credit cards and car loans. They will mostly provide advice and guidance, with maybe some occasional programs such as interest rate reductions. There are non-profit credit agencies in Nashville too. Details are here. http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html ... s_ten.html

Hello, I am 24 years old. I was born in 1991 and I currently live in Indianapolis, IN with my mom and two younger sisters, ages 16 and 12. Our dad had died unexpectedly last year in December leaving us and my laid off mother. We live in a house where everything is totally electric because my dad decided to convert to electric without checking with the landlord to see if that was okay and now we are still paying off a two thousand dollar electric bill from two years ago.
My mom gets a social security check every third Wednesday of the month and it still is not enough to help pay all the bills. I work at a grocery store, that offers no benefits whatsoever, hardly any raises, (if there is it's only 10 cents), and I get $8.55 an hour working 9 hours, four days a week. I have payments on payday loans and bills of my own not to mention helping with groceries and helping out with my younger sister when she needs things for school. My middle sister, the 16 year old, works as a valet at a restaurant. She gets paid 8.75 an hour working 9 hours, five days a week. Although she gets insurance, the insurance doesn't nearly pay enough for hospital bills and expenses like it should, in fact I think their insurance is a fluke! She also helps out with my credit card debts and with my younger sister's schooling.
My mother's account is overdrawn almost every other week, we barely get by with buying groceries, let alone putting enough gas in the tank; it's only God we are making it. I need help paying off credit debt so that way I will be able to have enough to help my mom out with bills and buy more groceries. We are also trying to move to Michigan as my mom would like to be closer to family since my father is no longer living. All I am asking is for at least $3500 to $4000; even $2500 would be appreciated. Please give me a call or email me back as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and have a great day. God bless you.

I do not know anyone really. Spent nine months in a Domestic Violence facility then at a Y for women for fourteen months. Have lived in this area and still do not know where to turn to for help with my credit card and other debts. Have one friend who is struggling with their own issues so I need help finding what is available for me to do. After all these years I am no longer afraid to try and get some help with my mental and physical problems.
My largest mistake was the payday loans that turned into a never ending cycle with high interest rates. Which now I have to pay off and I just finished paying off three separate medical facilities. I had fraud committed against me when someone wrote checks from my bank which caused me to pay off small and large checks I had written and tried to get help from legal aide but they were too busy. I cannot go on.
I am so depressed but am trying so hard just to be able to get my health back, pay down my credit cards and also get rid of those payday loans. Lost the ability to walk for about nine months and now want to try so hard to have a life again. I am thankful for a place to live after learning how hard it is not to have. These deductibles and co-pays and dentists wanting $140.00 per tooth pulled is just too hard. Pay bills, buy groceries or get some health care, well which do you choose? Sincerely,
Targarian

I am homeless and in the hospital. When I get out of the hospital I will be living out of the car until they take it. The phone will be turned off on the 7th. I have a niece that lives with me she does work but it is not enough to help with the bills. I'm unable to work at this time due to medical problems. I owe money on payday loans and any money my niece makes will be taken and we will have nothing. I'm in need of financial help, housing help, and debit counseling.

I am a single mother of 2 girls, 11 and 16 who now lives on payday loans and my credit card to make ends meet. I was fired on June 3, 2019 due to retaliation. I was employed doing Medical Billing and Coding for two years. I have lived at my address for Almost 4 years and have never been late on my rent. I have an interview this Monday but I am not in a position to pay this month’s rent or the debt on my credit card. I negotiated with my car lender to pay 35.00 a month to skip a payment and have insurance on the rest of my bills like credit cards etc. I have 250.00 in the bank and some food in the pantry. I have applied for foods stamps, and unemployment as well as a credit card hardship program. But that will take some time. I'm applying for a HUD program to purchase a home. I am in need of assistance to hold my family over. I have never been in this situation and a little nervous but holding my head high and paying off the payday loans and debts. Can you direct me?
