The state of North Carolina doesn't offer much mortgage assistance right now. The best thing to do may be to try a loan modification or wait for the government mortgage plan.

May lose house to foreclosure

Post by Var12 »

October 11, 2010

I am in need of real estate advice in the state of Michigan. I am paying the first mortgage on the property where I live, however my husband took out a second mortgage home equity loan on the property. His credit report shows the account type was a line of credit, that he was solely responsible (only signer on the loan,) and that the account was closed by the grantor, because he is now deceased. They are talking now about a foreclosure. The bank will not give me any information on the loan such as a copy of the loan papers with his signature or payment history, but I am expected to make payments. The bank has turned it over to the collection company who is now trying to collect the full amount of the loan or foreclose. No estate has been opened, but correspondence is addressed to the estate of my husband. I was told that I was not responsible for his debts but what is my responsibility.

Thank you in advance,

The state of Michigan and local government have created numerous programs to help homeowners who are facing a foreclosure. As just a few examples of the government created programs include MSHDA Assist Refinance Program, the Michigan Foreclosure Mediation, and the hardest hit fund. Certain parts of the state have their own unique programs as well, such as an Oakland County mediation program which people can turn to in their time of mortgage struggles. The government programs, and things like mediation, can help with your loan and situation. Maybe even improve credit too.

Hello there. I'm in need of Help. I was out of work from January 5,2011 to Febuary 15,2011. I had to have surgery on my gallbladder and I got behind on my bills during this time and can't get caught back up. I work at a Retirement Home in Winston-Salem,NC as a Beautician in the Health Care Dept. I really need money paying my mortgage and land payment, Utility Bills and other bills. I have been struggling. I have been stressing about the situation I'm in and don't know what to do. I went to CCCS on Monday March 1,2011 and got counseled about my bills but that is not going to pay what I owe. I'm at the end of my rope. Could you please tell me if there are any resources that I can get in touch with that will give me money to get back on my feet? I'm desperate. I can't continue to ask my brother for money because he has bills of his own. Can you help me? Thank you for your time. Sincerely. I live in King NC.

My fiance and I are being evicted from our home as foreclosing. Mandi is awaiting a decision as to whether or not she can receive dissability benefits. She is unable to work leaving me the sole provider for our household. I am a skilled landscape architect and also have over 6 yrs experience in management. I am extremely hard working, intelligent, clean cut, outgoing, possess great people skills and work ethic, as well as in excellent physical condition. Despite my abilities, I have recently become a victim of the deepening recession. The company where I have been employed for over 3 years downsized. Due to my relatively short time with the company, I was laid off. By the way I was employed with the company before for over 6 years. I am determined to work and willing and smart enough to do most anything. I have apllied for positions at over two dozen business, all of which I am qualfied for and am confident that I'll back to work within no time. In the mean however, the stack of unpaid bills and mortgage payment continues to grow and our bank accounts remain exhausted. Now I am facing the fact that I will lose everything I have worked so hard for unless we receive some sort of outside assistance. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are some new mortgage programs available for people who have lost their jobs and the unemployed. Also if disabled, you may have additional options. While being accepted into a program is not a given, you can apply and try. The Florida mortgage assistance programs are even more extensive then other states. Counselors, centers and foreclosure prevention specialists are all available to help needy Florida homeowners.

I received a letter, dated April 3, 2012, from my mortgage company's attorney stating I had 30 days to bring my arrears current or the mortgage company intended to foreclose on my property. The amount that they were asking for was for $6,400. On April first I received notice that no partial payments would be accepted towards my balance because my mortgage was now in foreclosure. I contacted my mortgage company to see what I could do in order to save my home. I was told that I didn't qualify for a repayment plan setup, but could apply for an in house modification, which was not guaranteed. I asked about the pay off amount to bring my account current and was told it was now $16,000, which included attorney fees and foreclosure fees. I asked if I could bring my account current, if those additional fees could be waived. My mortgage company states that they can not waive any fees, and the whole $16,000 balance must now be paid in order to stop the foreclosure process. Is there any resources available that I can contact about having those fees waived from my mortgage balance. Can you please notify me of my rights and options. Thank you.

We have extensive information on mortgage programs and foreclosure counseling. We always recommend starting with a HUD approved counseling agency, and then go from there if they can't help you. Many of these will offer low cost, or maybe even free advice and services. Did you explore the various government programs too? We have information on our site about them too. As far as the HUD counselors, find those organizations here. http://needhelppayingbills.com/html/hud ... _help.html States are midway down the page.

Due to my husband's medical condition and time missed from work, I am $800 behind on my rent and my gas has been shut off. I am back at work full time but am afraid I will not be able to get caught up in time to avoid eviction. My mother's house is being foreclosed in Florida, and she will be moving in with us at the end of October and just got a job at my office. I know with some help, we can combine our resources and not find ourselves in thus position again. Please contact me.

Florida was hard hit by the housing crisis, but they also provide resident a large number of foreclosure and mortgage programs. Many towns and cities also offer aid, such as mediation, loan modifications, and more. There are resources like the Foreclosure Defense Project, JP Morgan Chase counseling centers, and others. While some may have restrictions, they are fairly wide ranging and accessible. Visit our main site and continue reading.
