Senior payee resources for the elderly

Post by Oswald12 »

I am a Representative Payee for two (2) senior Individuals who receive
SSI from the Federal government. However they need additional
help, with paying rent, purchasing food, paying for utilities and
They need winter clothing desperately.
I am new at this Representative Payee business and I don’t know
How to apply for and/or where to apply for Housing Assistance,
Medical Bill Payments, additional Food their link payments were
Just reduced to $10.00 a month.
So far I have been able to get them the Metra Ride Free Card,
However I have not had any luck with getting them any additional
Food, Both of my people now have Co-Pays for Doctor Visits, they
Can’t afford any Home Owner/Rental Insurance.
The colder months are now coming upon us, they are in dire need
Of Winter Clothing, Winter Boots, Gloves, Hats & Scarves. These
Two (2) individuals are actually in dire straits.
Public Aid employees told me to look around for additional agencies.

Not sure what a Representative Payee is but I used to do the same for the state under our local DFACS office.I would start with Family and Child Services, they should be able to provide some resources. Good Luck.

Hello,
I'm trying to find someone that can help my neighbor; an 76 year old Senior Citizen, on a low fixed income; with repairs to his house that he has owned, and lived in for decades. He is in Indianapolis IN 46201.
He has written up by the local Board of Health a couple of years ago for a few Violations for Building Codes, the main one being the Siding on his house, and also "Windows" that needs repairs.
I contacted "The Riley Group" here in Indianapolis concerning the Siding issue, they sent him an application, and he was approved.
A man from The Riley Group came out to measure the house. He was kind enough to help hold the measuring tape for the man, while he measured the house.
Later, when a crew came out,.......they replaced his Roof...not the Siding.
He was NOT written up for his Roof, and was not approved for a roof, but that's what got fixed.
The Board of Health still has my neighbor in Court over the siding Violation, and he is pretty upset over this matter.
Can you offer any solution as to these problems? Can you recommend an Agency that can help him with the Roof, and Window repairs ?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated :)

The agency on Aging centers in Indiana often have information on all of the programs available for senior citizens. If your neighbor is 76, then he may qualify for some form of home repair. Or even check with habitat for Humanity in Indianapolis, as sometimes they can coordinate repairs as well. Maybe some volunteers will help install the siding that is needed. click here Indiana Aging offices.
