Behind and self employed

Post by Clinicshipper »

Good morning and God bless,
I currently am a mom of 5 who is self-employed. I have 3 of my 5 children living with me (my oldest daughter live in PA with her father), which I pay child support for, and my oldest son stays with my aunt since he goes to school in Brooklyn, where she lives. So, he comes on weekends, and holidays, but mainly stays with her). After almost 9 amazing years, I am being forced to move out by my landlord, who thankfully, hasn’t taken any court action - YET. I have a section 8 voucher, with current transfer paperwork to allow me to relocate, but there are security deposit/broker fees that are associated with it, which I don’t have! After searching for almost 6 months, I FINALLY found a broker willing to accept my voucher, but I’m being charged TWO months security, along with one month’s broker fee, besides the first month’s rent. It is hard to come up with that income and money when self-employed.
I desperately need help and have nowhere to turn besides HRA (I’m going there today), but a different broker once told me that HRA doesn’t pay more than the first month’s security deposit. I’m not sure how accurate that information is, but if it IS TRUE, then I’m in trouble… and I need HELP… ANY help I can get, as soon as possible. I currently work, but it’s only part time and self employed since I can’t afford a sitter, so my children father (Juan) stays with them the days I work, and I have them the rest of my free time. He’s able to work part time since he’s self-employed. He doesn’t have much to contribute since he already currently supports/cares for his children and works part time as well. I’d appreciated any references, or points in the right direction to try and secure this for my children. Thank you in advance!

If you are self-employed, but still behind, maybe look into more or a new freelance job. We have descriptions of freelance opportunities on the site. Anyone who is self-employed needs to hustle. But you need to be in the right fields.
