I am 63 1/2 years old, so a senior citizen but I live on SSDI. I have a limited income through SSD/SSI. $9,060.00 annual.
I receive approximately $50.00 monthly for Food Stamps.
I have recently been told that I have severe sleep apnea and I need additional oxygen with the CPAP machine at night. I have also been using an in home oxygen machine since January 2017, when I came home from the hospital. I had pneumonia and spent 6 days there. My current situation is having a grant amount from Metro Action Commission, of $450.00 which they give to senior citizens who live on SSDI. I can't reapply until late next year. July's electric bill was $115.00.
And I am convinced that it wasn't all the hot weather. I have insulation issues with my apartment and I can't fix them myself. I live at Nashville TN 37211-5077. South Brook Community. My government phone number is below. I am inquiring about the LIHEAP Program for senior citizens who only have an income on SSDI .Or anything else that I might be able to get in the way of regular assistance for my electric bill needs. Thank you for your support

To whom it may concern:
I'm writing in regard to info I read. Currently I'm a senior living only on disability(SSDI) & experiencing financial hardship.
My last resident I lived there for 3 plus years & paid rent in the $600 plus per month. I've never missed one day of rent. There was no written lease agreement, as my landlords were personal friends.
Without warning approximately August 3rd, 2021, no written notice, my landlords requested that I seek a motel for a couple of days to prep their unfinished wood floors to sand & prepare for stain etc. I lived with the landlords in their residence, provided an unfinished bedroom, access to all areas in the home inside & out.
I called the landlords to come get me, no vehicle. They would not return my calls or text. Several attempts over a period from date I left to current. All my personal items (clothes, shoes, important papers, mail, medications (I'm diabetic - supplies) plus ex's for various health issues, and other items. To date I've only read my medications left at motel where to date still at. (total 5 motels to date @ my expense, plus food, taxi etc.). After the 2nd motel stay, I got ill.
My financial means were depleting as SSDI is not enough for a senior citizen. I sought shelter, no available in my town, Pueblo CO, for single person. I tried every assistance I could( Catholic Charities, Posada etc.)none without end. I begged my landlord’s ex friends. I went to Health Solutions to find help. None. I slept outside behind a building. Next day returned to Health Solutions & only offer was the Co Sags Rescue Mission. They provided transportation. I stayed there for two weeks, until my return to Pueblo which I had Doctor appointment. I'm under medical care for my diabetes & spinal problem( surgery on back burner). At the mission I had minimum to eat(2 time day 6 am & 4pm), left outside from am to pm, allowed certain hours in their facility to charge phone, shower etc. After 4pm dinner went to dorm until next 6 am. Very hard to sleep on bunk. Went to ER for health issues. Total of 3 times to ER since I left the residence. Put my diabetes in harm's way, financial demise, stress, anxiety plus more. Never have I've been homeless. Worked 25 plus years to I got injured at work 2011 then went on SSDI. Disability effective 2012. Income $1288 per month. No other income. I've paid all expenses until recent 091419. My brother in WY is paying all expenses currently & has paid until Sat 092119 at current motel. Plus, meals. He has obtained a month motel stay starting this week & meals. I'm blessed to have him. Currently 14 cents on my debit card. No funds for upcoming phone bill 092919. I have other bills upcoming. My brother will fund me if I need. Copay for ax, misc. No credit cards or loan debts.
Another hardship, my son 48 years, has a TBI & unable to work, disability pending. I provide minimum funds I can afford.
So, as I've made you aware, my situation is in distress, demise.
Please any advice or resources I would appreciate & welcome! As a single parent who is also a senior citizen, I never received child support, welfare assistance, nothing. My parents did help raise my son, but only helped in an emergency issue. I thank them for helping. My son was 6wks old, went to work & never stopped until 2011.
Personally, mentally distraught & fear of the unknown. My next pay on 100319, I will get some relief for my financial situation.
The damage this has caused is overwhelming. My health is poor. My pride has always kept me from asking for help. No family except my brother in WY. My parents deceased. My grandkids live out of state.
Help please!

If you only have SSDI (as a senior) can you apply for social security retirement too? As that is different than disability or SSDI.
As far as the financial hardship, luckily there are many assistance programs for seniors, retirees and older people. We have them listed on our website. Find emergency elder assistance programs.
